Our culture today seems to lend itself to relativism, situational ethics and self reliance as a basis for decision making of life choices. Are there absolutes, or standards that can be relied upon to ensure success in our choices? Situational ethics have all but undone the reliance on traditional standards with seemingly poor results. A persons understanding or lack of it would make them respond to specific situations differently than the next person, therefore there would be varying results . My opinion is that the Bible contains the basic information for any person, any culture at any period in time, whether wealthy or poor, educated or considered ignorant, to gain success in their life. It should be considered as a raw material that needs to be worked with and applied. How we work it can be the problem. There are those who don't want to know because they would have to change, there are those that are just plain lazy and would rather be spoon fed by others, there are the cynical, pessimist, the seriously deluded, and the enlightened. All in all, any educated individual at the very least needs a good understanding of the Bible to help create a direction in life.
I'm interested in any or all thoughts.
