I am a journalism student who is very interested in what goes on in the world and what goes on in our country (one would hope so). I vote for stories that I find valid and informative. I don't vote based on political belief because it doesn't serve anyone much good. However, that doesn't mean I will vote for anything claiming to be political in nature either. There is far too much crap that is accepted for fact these days (from all sides). Comments are trickier, people sometimes say the most asinine things, but I still try to be objective. Now to the more biographical stuff: Born in Boston, MA, live in Northern CA, moving back to Boston in August for school. I like: cats, movies, Europe, beaches, Italian food, Indian food, traveling, people (for the most part), and political satire - when done right that is. I hate: people who manipulate, racists, spiders, plane rides, seafood, milk, and people who don't recycle or waste things purposely to annoy someone else. The thing that I hate most of all though, is polarization. I HATE that everyone is either a "liberal" or a "conservative". At this point those terms have just become insulting. I hate that if your political beliefs are towards the left, then you therefore cannot be religious, if they swing to the right, then you must be fanatically devout. I hate that every single issue in our society today is seen in black and white and if a person tries to claim a middle ground, or even tries to see things from the other side, they are instantly lambasted and force fed rhetoric. There is nothing on earth that clear cut and to try and make it so just causes more divide in our country. Nothing can be solved by always assuming you are right and the other side is wrong. Nothing can be solved by refusing to even listen to the other argument - in fact it weakens yours. If there is anything "evil" in this country it is polarization.
