Let me see if I have this right. We are willing to fight an unpopular war for oil, but we are not willing to oppose a popular subsidy to import sugar to make ethanol.
This decision means that thousands will die needlessly
here and abroad. There are no politicians making decisions in the national interests for the betterment of economic, energy or national security. Rather, it is the case that all politicians want to get their friends paid and themselves re-elected. That is all.
