Scifi Sagas: 7 Reasons Why Scifi Book Series Outstay Their Welcomes

Books – Why do so many amazing novels sprawl into so-so trilogies? Let alone blah tetralogies, or dull ten-book series? Blame "Herbert's Syndrome," in which a great writer gets tempted to keep writing about a popular universe, like Frank Herbert's Dune, long after its expiration date. (The Fantasy Review coined the term "Herbert's Syndrome&q

EYE WEEKLY - British Sea Power

Music – It's both strange and perversely appropriate to be interviewing British Sea Power frontman Scott "Yan" Wilkinson on a patio across from a daytime South by Southwest event promoting army recruitment Ã;¢ââ;;¬" given that his band of Brighton art-rockers have a tendency to

The Chattanooga Pulse - Straight Outta Athens -Hope for Agoldensummer

Music – Athens, Georgia is perhaps one of the least likely underground rock havens to come out of the left-of-the-dial '80s. Home to the University of Georgia, it seems more suited to Steve Miller cover bands than the jangly/angular college rock popular in the Reagan era thanks to R.E.M. and Pylon.
