Zimbabwe and the new Cowardly Colonialism

Politics – Western intervention against Robert Mugabe's 'evil regime' put Zimbabwe into an economic straitjacket and disempowered its people. The Bush administration played a major role in creating the disaster in Zimbabwe.

Bush, McCain, Colombia & Narco-Politics

Politics – George W. Bush's strategy of countering Venezuela's leftist president Hugo ChÃ;¡vez by strengthening ties to Colombia's rightist government has been undercut by fresh evidence of high-level drug corruption and human rights violations implicating President Alvaro Uribe's inner circle. McCain wants to continue the corruption.

The right's game-playing with "anti-Semitism" accusations

Politics – As our political establishment takes new and disturbing steps towards confrontation with Iran, the effort to stomp out any discussion of the role Israel plays in that policy with cries of "anti-semitism" has once again intensified - even as right wingers explicitly call on American jews to put Israel ahead of American interests.

Does the US have a free press and a healthy democracy?

Politics – 71% of Americans oppose the US taking sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Will you see this on ABC, CBS, Fox, ... and in banner newspaper headlines tomorrow? Will Barak Obama and John McCain show they are interested in the views of the American people more than they are in pleasing AIPAC

IMF Finally Knocks on Uncle Sam's Door

Money – The fact that the IMF is knocking on the very doors of its parents and waving legal papers about who lost the house, the car and the kids will, if the past is anything to go by, be buried in the US by pom-pom waving on CNBC telling all what a great time it is to buy. The US Fed has now lost its last vestige of credibility.

Citizenship law makes Israel an apartheid state

Religion – We do not need to replicate exactly South African apartheid within discriminatory practices in civil rights in Israel to call Israel an apartheid state. The amendment to the Citizenship Law is exactly such a practice - it is best we not try to evade the truth: Its existence in our law books turns Israel into an apartheid state.

Zionism's Dead End

Do No Evil – The Zionist worldview departs starkly from international law and also from the values upheld by most societies and ideologies. The nature of Zionist ambitions is ever harder to conceal, as is evident from the tide of opinion polls showing that Western publics, if not their governments, believe Israel to be one of the biggest threats to world order.

Conservatives and Their Carnival of Fraud

Politics – Did Adam Smith-tied evangelists of "limited government" have any idea they were greasing the skids for 22-year-old arms dealers? How could a kid barely able to buy beer secure a nearly $300 million defense contract? When they finally put their theory into practice, conservatives contrived one of the most wasteful systems ever seen.

The Urge to Surge in Iraq

Politics – Skip the "good news" part. The "improvement" represents divide and conquer in a colonial fashion; it's barely held together by baling wire and reliant on the destruction of ever more Iraqi neighborhoods. This cannot end well. Not for Washington. Not for the U.S. military. Not for Americans. And, above all, not for Iraqis.

Why Are Those Wacky Koreans Dissin' Our Beef?

Do No Evil – South Koreans have brought Seoul to a standstill and may topple their government over importation of unsafe US meat. South Korea testes every cow for "mad-cow" disease, but US tests less than 1% - even though there are indications of up to 1 million infected cows. Worse, the Bush administration blocks Americans wanting to test their own c

The World Begins to Investigate 9/11

Politics – More and more foreign leaders are unconvinced by US government characterization of the events of 9/11. They are beginning their own investigations into what really happened.

America's Irrational Defense of Israel

Politics – Does our "non-negotiable" support for Israel make us more secure, or is it a MAD policy akin to the insane Cold War strategy of "mutual assured destruction?" Such a strategy may result in the mutual assured destruction of both the United States and Israel.

Can You Pass The Israel-Palestine Quiz?

Do No Evil – The Israel-Palestine conflict resonates deeply. Opinions are sharply divided and generally unchangeable. However, as a member of a mainstream Israeli peace group, I often encounter opinionated people who are ignorant of many basic facts. I have designed the quiz below, which may lead some to reexamine their misconceived opinions.

Radioactive DÃ;©jÃ;  Vu in the American West

Politics – The newest uranium frenzy has opened with a PR campaign to convince a wary public that nuclear power should be an acceptable, if desperate, last-ditch option to stem the build-up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Americans in western states have seen this catastrophe before.

Debunking McCain McMyths: Flipflopper, Not a Maverick

Politics – There has been considerable chipping away at the McCain mythologies lately, much of which has been coming from an unexpected source: the candidate himself. In fact, John McCain has done more to expose the reality behind the fabulations that he is a straight-talking maverick than his political enemies ever could.
