  Other video programs sprung up such as Night Flight on USA Network that sometimes featured offbeat content from more obscure artists, but MTV had the clear advantage and had grabbed the entire market early on. No one was really able to catch up with the exception of programming that didn't fit MTV's format, especially Hip Hop where MTV somehow was never cool enough to pull off.
