I am not left, right, democrat, republican, conservative or liberal. I am but a mere individual, born equal to, but not greater than, any other person, and endowed with certain inalienable rights, among which are the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. As a free individual, I have certain obligations in common with my fellow man. These include the establishment and maintenance of a Government of the people, by the people, and for the people, committed to the preservation and defense of these inalienable rights for posterity and our descendants. If we are to remain free, these obligations are personal to each man and cannot be ignored, lest we lose our freedom and liberties from without or within.
