News – Peter King (R-NY) slammed fellow Republicans for pressuring Vito Fossella (R-NY) to resign amid revelations of a drunken-driving arrest and secret love child. Fossella admitted to an affair and a 3yo daughter with the woman. Fossella was arrested on drunken driving charges after running a red light on the way to her home.

Who are these powerful insiders? Why are they there? The story goes back 40 years, to the bloody debacle of the 1968 convention and subsequent loss to Richard Nixon.

News – Apart from George McGovern, a plainspoken man who knows something about losing elections, not a single Democrat of national stature publicly urged Hillary Rodham Clinton on Wednesday to end her campaign for the White House. They didn't have to. There was no shortage of other ways to signal, suggest, insinuate or instigate the same thing.
Politics – Barack Obama has won the North Carolina presidential primary, but he trails Hillary Rodham Clinton in Indiana. The two states are the last big-delegate prizes left in the long race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Politics – The results are now in hand. The latest CBS-New York Times poll indicates that Obama's support has held relatively firm in spite of the provocative statements of Reverend Wright. The majority of Democrats are now satisfied with Obama's handling of his former pastor.
