Spadecaller

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." I cherish the meaning of these words. With fervor and conviction, Martin Luther King spoke them at my junior high school in 1962. The converse of his wise statement is also true: life commences to have greater meaning, when we speak up about things that really matter. So let's call a spade a spade. I use the symbol because it requires patience and stamina to shovel a path through the debris that we encounter here in cyberspace and in the virtual world. A spade is a gardening tool; not a racial epithet. It has a sharper point than an ordinary shovel and it can penetrate the surface with greater ease. With spade in hand, I learn about the world around me, about you, and about myself. Sharing these treasures is the source of my greatest joys. I value freedom , despise censorship, and distrust government. I am a survivor, who dares not regret the past. I try never to forget life's one guarantee; the future's promise does not promise a future, and so today is all we have. Amidst the struggle for peace within and about, I try never to forget rule # 62: don't take yourself too seriously. My website showcases a gallery of original paintings, bonsais, editorials, short stories, humorous video clips, t-shirt designs, and posters. Welcome to Spadecaller's Corner.
