  • Mrs. Palin, stay close to the facts!

Posted: 1 year, 2 months ago in response to Palin's Speech vs. Reality

This is in fact a very detailed fact check of Sarah Palin´s speech! Politicians, especially in times of Conventions, when unity and self-confidence of the own party is much more important than the truth, are seldom measured by reality. Just the lenghth of this article makes it obvious, how many discrepancies can be figured out between Mrs. Palin´s statements and the pure facts. Sometimes, the reason might have been ignorance, but often enough ...

  • It´s not as simple, Mr. Mc Cain!

Posted: 1 year, 2 months ago in response to 8 More Shocking Revelations About Sarah Palin | Election 2008 | AlterNet

The term "faux feminism" describes very well, what I think about Mrs. Palin´s nomination. She´s nothing but an alibi-woman for the Republican ticket. Does John Mc Cain, who is against equal payment and would like to redifine abortion by equalizing it to contraception, concede to his female voters having any brain?

Posted: 1 year, 2 months ago in response to U.S. Has Little to Back Up Tough Talk With Russia

It might be a kind of conspiracy theory, but I think it´s worth to think it over: Why should the Bush administration make any efforts right now to stop the conflict in the Caucasian region? I know that there is no obvious and direct relation between Georgia and the US electional campaign, but there possibly is an interaction ...

  • A decisive question?

Posted: 1 year, 2 months ago in response to Barack Obama fails to shine alongside John McCain

It might be Barack Obama´s attitude towards abortion that will make the difference. He is not a defender of this practice, but he sees it as a free decision of each woman to have a baby or not. I guess, many women, especially non-religious feminists, will agree with him in this point. The conservative religious right will focus on this liberal view in their critique, because it isn´t bible-conform as they see it ...

Posted: 1 year, 3 months ago in response to "Obamamania" Appears More "Hitleresque" Every Day

There were some details in this article, I didn´t know about the Democratic candidate before, but I don´t think that they will take very much influence on my opinion. What I absolutely can´t accept, is the Hitler comparison. Hitler also had charisma, this might be true, but he wasn´t just a charming motivator or manipulator. He was a demagogue and one of the greatest war criminals of the 20th century. Comparing ...
