Welfare_Made_Me_Rich

How did it come to pass that Republicans became advocates for Welfare for the Wealthy? Why do they strive so diligently to free their benefactors from all accountability? I believe it started with Ronald Reagan. Beginning with his administration, hailed by the right for 'Getting the Government off the backs of people', we now know the economic policy of that administration (commonly known as 'voo-doo economics), was designed to redistribute the social safety net to a welfare package for the rich. .$.$.$.$.$.$. Prior to say, 1976, Business & Corporations were _True Capitalists_, _Innovators_, _Risk Takers_. As such, they had to be accountable for their actions. They had to suffer the consequences of poor judgement, and the middle class were somewhat protected from the nefariousness that seems to always rear it's head when money is at stake. Under the guise of 'Getting Government Off The Backs of People', Ronald Reagan, began a process that has since been manipulated to pervert the very nature of capitalism - and risk. Perhaps you see that all repurcussions for corporate malfeasance has been shifted to the middle classes. In fact, Corporations and the Wealthy have very little risk or accountability for very little any longer! $.$.$.$.$.$. Here's an example of how the connected get wealthy at the expense of the upper, middle and lower classes. ------------------------------------------------ My buddy, George W. Bush, (who is the most overly confident individual you will ever meet) saw an opportunity to get really rich at the expense of the middle classes in Texas. There was a baseball team called the Rangers. The owner wanted to sell. Along with local Arlington 'good ole boys', he joined a syndicate to purchase the team. This is what they did next. ---------- -(1) Not having any money of his own yet (just his daddy's name and boundless confidence), he colluded with some well connected Texans to buy the team. ---------- -(2) And here's the key part of the plan, even though these guys were way rich enough to build the stadium themselves, it was GW's plan that the citizens of Arlington build the stadium for them! See? No Risk! ----------- -(3) Embracing Corporate Socialism, he got the citizens to absorb the cost by getting the city to raise taxes. ---------- -(4) Next came the blackmail. He threatened to move the team OUT of Arlington to some other city if they didn't build the stadium. This kind of extortion is a common theme of this modern perversion of capitalism. ---------- -(5) IT WORKED! The middle classes would build the stadium for George. ---------- -(6) Now they needed land. Not just the 17 acres for the stadium, but 200 acres for an entertainment zone. ---------- -(7) Solution - George got the city to use _Eminent_Domain_! They rolled over most everybody, paying less than actual value for their property. $.$.$.$.$.$.$. The result? George W wound up with a windfall of $17 Million when this collective sold the Rangers soon after the stadium was built. See? There was never any risk for George or his friends. Therefore, it's not capitalism. I don't know the name of what you call it. Perhaps Corporate Socialism. Socialism for the rich and well connected. In this modern socialism tale, ALL the risk was shifted to the citizens of Arllington. They alone financed George's $17 Million payout. The sad thing is, this is being repeated over and over today, throughout the nation. $.$.$.$.$.$.$.$.$.$.$.$.$.$. The kicker is, since Mainstream Media Corporations are engaged in this 'feeding at the public trough', (i.e. airwave auction). it's highly unlikely that you will see media playing a traditional 'watch dog' role. But we all see everything we didn't care to know about Britney Spears - and that is media's new mandate. _______________________________________________________________________________________ And for those of you who _still_ believe (or pretend to believe) that mainstream media is biased to the left, consider that this story about Bush and the Texas Rangers has never been reported by MSM. It barely made it out of Texas. A story that does so much to explain where GW came from, his style, his Talk of Self Reliance and Accountability which contrasts with his Walk of Socialism for the Rich. Contrast that with mainstream media's 8 year investigation of every minutiae of White Water - and literally every detail of Bill and Hillary's private lives. Pretty astonishing, really.

Doctors Say 'I'm Sorry' Before 'See You in Court'

Health & Fitness – In 40 years as a highly regarded cancer surgeon, Dr. Tapas K. Das Gupta had never made a mistake like this. As with any doctor, there had been occasional errors in diagnosis or judgment. But never, he said, had he opened up a patient and removed the wrong sliver of tissue, in this case a segment of the eighth rib instead of the ninth.

Killing and Dying in Iraq for Nothing

God Damn America - Especially Pennsylvania

Do No Evil – I think even Norman Rockwell would have found this place too sticky sweet, too postcard: the weathered barns, the fallow fields perfectly snow-frosted; red, white and blue flags already up on the clapboard farmhouses and the white-washed church in the valley already full for Easter prayers.
