June 16, 2006, 1:20 p.m.This site is still beta and has a lot of bugs to work out, so I'm holding judgement. I also look forward to seeing the digg update in the coming weeks. Then we can compare.

June 16, 2006, 3:10 p.m.if netscape can keep from becoming dominated by a bunch of 13 year olds, it will kick diggs behind

June 16, 2006, 3:36 p.m.Too many ads for a beta site. it's just sickening. Dig is much nicer.

June 16, 2006, 4:04 p.m.Far too many ads. That's the biggest problem with this site. Therefore, digg is better.

June 16, 2006, 4:12 p.m.So far, I like Digg better This site is too cluttered, it's too difficult to read the original stories (small link to the story), you can't spell check your comments and is a bit difficult to naviguate in general. I like the editorial content and the Anchor stories.

June 17, 2006, 1:53 p.m.I don't like the added frame on the left hand side. It's ugly and makes the main frame too narrow. It's a nice idea for a portal, though. It may get good at some point.

June 18, 2006, 10:11 p.m.Looks like they have started to make some changes on the site to improve it. Less ads with bigger and more visable site link buttons. The disable frame option when opening a link doesn't seem to be working yet. Would also like to see a spell check, able to easly blog a story and also checking for similar stories when you submit a story to avoid duplicates. I enjoy the multiple channels

June 18, 2006, 11:54 p.m.netscape still has SQL errors dumping out to the page. not so classy.... For now, I'll stick with digg but I'll be keeping my one this.

June 19, 2006, 3:24 a.m.well, at this point of time the service is in BETA and it is "we" (the users) only who can make the service better! i think that is enough to give at least some chance to netscape or aol if that is the right thing to say!

June 21, 2006, 2:22 p.m.It has the possibility to be very good - I like the netscape name and it actually seems fitting to me based on the original netscape. My problems are with the layout out - need tweaking, the design seems to overpower the content a little to me. And as other have pointed out there is way too much or poorly positioned/sized advertising. With some work I'd be ok with the navigator bar. So in the short term I'm watching and waiting, since mainly using Digg due to its better interface.

June 24, 2006, 12:48 p.m.I really like the new Netscape. I like the variety of channels and the user participation. I'm kinda new to this format as I had never heard of Digg before. I like how you can leave comments and vote on news stories. I also like the variety of stories from all across the web from sites I had never heard of--I think it's great!

June 26, 2006, 7:06 p.m.I don't think it's a good time to start comparing Netscape and Digg. Netscape is only in beta while Digg is up to version 3.

June 28, 2006, 2:48 p.m.@ MchWalte - yes that's true but Netscape has invited the comparison by essentially copying every aspect of digg's design.

July 2, 2006, 3:26 p.m.Much prefer netscape; non-tech subjects don't suit digg at all and the anchors idea is great. it'll be even better when it gets more users and the turnover of stories speeds up.

Aug. 16, 2006, 2:25 p.m.Agree with robj -- many times, despite being a techie, I have non-techie subjects to add -- which totally have no place in Digg, or fit oddly in their subject matrix. Honestly, with a few more departments like Netscape, they could be on-par, as far as I'm concerned.
Just wrote an article on such, actually. (see related items, which come up with this - another strength of Netscape I think)

Nov. 5, 2006, 10:30 p.m.Not too much Tech on Netscape. The thing with Digg is that many people post too many articles and few of them are good while in Netscape - very less number of posts and they aren't great either. Stick to Digg for now. Hope Netscape improves .. because Digg seems all rigged.
