July 9, 2006, 1:26 p.m.Making one entry eight days ago is hardly tracking user response. It's getting easier to sort out the geniunely upset Netscapers from others by looking at the profile of the submitter. You can check the profile of commenters too.

July 9, 2006, 5:03 p.m.I'll be honest. I hate the new look, and think it lost so much efficiency. It's difficult to look at, and seems almost empty compared to what it used to be. I hate it enough that I'm looking for a new homepage - probably MSN or CNN or Yahoo.

July 9, 2006, 7:54 p.m.I don't really care how you handle it. I've already jumped to CNN. I just wanted to see if you had come to your senses yet.

July 9, 2006, 8:26 p.m.I have to agree with everyone else. I really hate the new Netscape homepage. Very confusing. I just want to be able to click and read whatever article I see that interests me. Now it's difficult. Can't figure out why you did this.

July 9, 2006, 9:23 p.m.I really prefer the style/format of the old Netscape homepage.
Might we be able to have a choice? If not, I probably won't visit this webpage much in the future. I'm on the net several hours a day, seven days a week and have been for the past ten years. There are definitely better formats than this one.

July 9, 2006, 10:09 p.m.I agree with everyone else. I greatly dislike the new Netscape homepage. I have had Netscape as my homepage for over 5 years. Never thought I would see the day when I went serching for a new place to call "home". Very sad.
Maybe if enough people voice their opinion, they will bring it back... any hope? Maybe? Yeah, probably not...

July 9, 2006, 11:46 p.m.The new page is great. You can easily get into some great arguments over the news. And it's easy to read the details of any story. The old page was boring.

July 10, 2006, 1:10 a.m.Netscape: I am one person who didn't really mind the change so much but it is starting to look like maybe you are getting enough negative comments that they really need to be addressed. What would it hurt to switch back to the old style, offer this new style as an alternative, then monitor how many people opt for the new style?

July 10, 2006, 1:32 a.m.I really don't like this new look. Bring back the old nestcape. Does anyone have a suggestion for a new hompe page like Netscape used to be?

July 10, 2006, 1:35 a.m.I now use a shortcut to go straight to my netscape email login. I, too, loathe the 'new look' as it seems to a) lack content, and b) have trivia for content.
I also don't like seeing references to everyone who doesn't like the new format as 'old school' - I'm happy for netscape to change from their old format - it's just that this new version sux.
ps. I didn't see any warnings of a pending revamp on the netscape site prior to it suddenly changing - that struck a sour note with me. Also, they should have run both old and new versions for a while, with a splash page to pick which one to go to - then they'd really see which one their loyal customers prefer.
They've force fed the new version to all their customers for long enough now - they should offer both pages, and see which ones people prefer!
(I saw a link to the old style via isp.netscape.net for a few days after the changeover, but that no longer seems to work).

July 10, 2006, 2:03 a.m."I didn't see any warnings of a pending revamp on the netscape site prior to it suddenly changing - that struck a sour note with me."
Actually they had notification for quite some time posted prominently on their old front page that they would change soon.

July 10, 2006, 2:46 a.m.I liked the old netscape better. I agree with most of the persons above. Give us a choice

July 10, 2006, 2:49 a.m.Suck it up, things change. I like the old netscape too, but after awhile I figured that I probably wasn't going to see it compete with google or yahoo without some changes.

July 10, 2006, 3:24 a.m.bad bad bad bad bad bad bad --- just awfully bad - horrible - looks like someonefresh out of high school designed it - i cannot believe anyone with any experience in UI design approved this.. I have been designing for 9 yrs and never have I seen such a horrible use of space - and lack of understanding on how people use the web.. bye bye netscape - you have been my home page for 10 yrs - not any longer..

July 10, 2006, 3:50 a.m.I do NOT like the new home page at all.I got very used to the old one and the new one I find to be VERY confusing!

July 10, 2006, 3:50 a.m.ChristianZ, you are very observant. Most of us did not see that and when our home page changed we had to "register" to express our displeasure it seems in most cases. Most of us are able enough to go to google or yahoo for a similar page in protest but it really irritates me that Netscape is trumpeting their 10,000 plus new members which includes a lot of us who didn't like it.
Where is the unregister button? Ping their advertisers who are getting inflated numbers anyway, and tell them you only registered to express your displeasure with the change (or buy something if you like it).
This may be a very clever ploy by the very nice looking Netscape team to run this baby into the ground, buy it cheap and then fix it. Brilliant! It's working.

July 10, 2006, 6:32 a.m.I'd say the complaints are way overblown. A vocal minority has been expressing their displeasure, but the changes were made quite some time ago.

July 10, 2006, 6:35 a.m.Netscape had always been my favorite site for news, entertainment and interesting stories. Not anymore!!! I will find something else. Terrible!!!!!!!!

July 10, 2006, 6:53 a.m.We are all creatures of habit, including me. I don't care for the new Netscape either. But I am going to continue to use it as my home page because even though I don't like it I am going to give it a chance to grow on me. I guess it looks kind of bare compared to the old page. Also the main thing I hate is that it "jumps" or "Jiggles" while I'm trying to read all the news headings on it. I think it's tabbing to each news story section and I'm getting too blind to stare at a twitchy screen. Yahoo revamped their home page too - and that one also sucks now. But I'm giving it a try.

July 10, 2006, 7:40 a.m.Great job Netscape. This is a step forward in utilizing the internet. I love the fact that I can respond to the news after I read it. Maybe you should make the MY Netscape button four times as large as it is so people can easily go back to their old format.

July 10, 2006, 8:26 a.m.I used to liked Netscape for simplicity. I have been a Computer Consultant for 15 years and have broad view of systems and software. I have also used Netscape since it's inception as my main browser and as a prefered e-mail package.
Dislikes
When it first loaded in the email splash or anchor area you could not see the left hand side of the text even if you expanded it. I work off a 19 inch monitor and still have trouble reading that particular part of the page. So finally you got the left hand side thing working but now I have to scroll over to the eastern hemisphere just to read an anchor.
You forgot the Old Rule of(KISS).
KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!
Did y'all have a seizure??
The lay out can be best discribed as "Informational Vomitus Maximus"
Reminds me of 1st year web design work.
BTW the AOL crap on the on the upgrade really ticked me off I wanted Netscape without A(H)OL(E).
Also,CNN is not news, It's Speculation.
On my way over to Outlook Express.

July 10, 2006, 8:36 a.m.I don't mind the new Netscape. Lets face it, it's the web 2.0. I think this is the future of the web--where more people take an active part. The people decide what issues are important (not webmasters). It's also a great way to communicate with others about what's going on in the world. As the new Netscape shows, the internet is a great place to exchange ideas and information--I applaud the change!
