Ruffian you think people were thrilled with all the casualties then? People complained then and people complain now. The only difference now is that (some) people seem to have higher regard for human life and the number of casualties in these wars hence the outcry when 'only' a few thousand die versus millions. And also Truman (one of the worst presidents of all time by many accounts) was possibly the Democratic equivalent of Bush so i'm not real sure what you're getting at; your logic makes leaps which aren't explained. Besides the way you mention human lives as if they're merely statistics it's also kind of strange that you're calling a party hypocritical because of something they may or may not have said/did 50 years ago(and when the party consisted of entirely different people)..

Well Dick...are we still in the "Last Throes". Something tells me that the people in Iraq don't think so.

I bet those dead people are quite thankful for the "American style democracy and freedom" that was thrust upon them. Gawd' Bliss Merika'Yawl.

So at what point will our government officially deem this a civil war? How much death does it take for our illustrious leaders to give an honest assessment of Iraq's deteriorating condition? Is it any wonder the world fears us. We are the proverbial infant with a gun. More like a fetus with a nuclear bomb.
