Java tsunami death toll increases »
Posted by: Fabienne 3 years, 5 months agoAt least 300 are reported dead, 140 missing, 450 injured and an estimated 52,700 displaced on Indonesia's island of Java. Early warning systems for tsunamis are still not in place for rural areas despite the tragic loss of 130,000 people from Indonesia in December of 2004.

July 18, 2006, 6:45 p.m.Is there any news on or from Ambon in Indonesia? I do not recall whether it is considered a district or a province or some other political designation. Many non-Muslims were driven out or killed during the past fifteen years. Much has been suffered throughout the beautiful Indonesian islands.
