I remember watching one of his shows a couple of years ago...he had a close shave w/a crocodile, and he said, "I can't get killed by a croc....if I do, everyone will say 'I knew a croc would get him!'"

It is a shame that he was killed, but he brought a whole new level of wildlife awareness to the world while he was here, and he died doing something that he loved.

          Blame game.

What is it about us that when there is a death that is unexpected, we must find blame. Remember the girl who lost an arm from a shark attack while surfing. She continues to surf and is an inspiration. It's a dangerous sport but when it's done well, is beautiful to the observer and a rush for the athlete (I would guess, having never done it). Now she's an inspiration. No one blamed the sports channel or competition (that I heard).

We all have desires to do something exciting that seem outrageous. We race cars at over 200 mph. We box. We cliff dive. We go to the mall. ;-)

Steve loved crocodiles. I don't know why. But it's not for me to judge. I loved his zeal for his occupation and life. His joy was contagious. And when the sting ray pierced his heart, it was full of joy. Discovery Channel didn't kill him. It was just his time to go. I hope I'm that happy and loved by so many when it's my time to go.
