Sept. 7, 2006, 1:54 p.m.Wow. That's a huge score for Jon Stewart. It'll also be huge for the President's book sales. Can't wait to see that :)

Sept. 7, 2006, 2:04 p.m.Yeah mark your calendars! Not sure if he's the first ... but I think certainly the first incumbant military dictator seen by the world as President Bush's friend & ally, mitigating circumstances notwithstanding.

Sept. 7, 2006, 10:02 p.m.This is almost to surreal to believe. I just read this morning that someone in his government had agreed to let Taliban and al Quida militants live in peace in Waziristan (northern provance on the border of Afganistan) as long as they stopped being Terrorist. The last report I read said that the agreement did not apply to Osama bin Laden.

Taganan
Sept. 8, 2006, 1:14 a.m.Iran's government is not military, but it is certainly bad. Pakistan's previous government was rife with corruption. His may not be much better, but at least he's on our side.

Trekker
Sept. 8, 2006, 5:39 a.m.Kapani, Taganan is right on the mark. These are exactly the kind of things I'm hoping he'll shed light on in his book -- what exactly happened that night in October 1999 when the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not allow the commercial plane Musharraf was travelling in to land -- endangering the lives of all passengers on board (the plane had reportedly 12 minutes of fuel left when it finally was able to land when Musharraf's generals took control of the airport).
And say whatever about Musharraf's government, no corruption scandal has emerged in the past 7 years unlike those of the "civilian" democratic governments of Nawaz Sharif or Benazir Bhutto.

endofdays
Sept. 8, 2006, 12:08 p.m.Mushareff is a frigging snake.
The US is planning to send Pakistan a squadron of F16s next year to aid them in their fight against terrorism (as if you can fight terrorists with F16s).
During the 80's we supported the Taliban in their fight against Russia (those Al Qeada training camps in Afganistan were in many cases originally camps set up by the CIA to train them to fight the Soviets).
We sent Sadam $$ and weapons during the Iran/Iraq war, which he eventually used against us in Desert Storm.
How long before we have to go into Pakistan? Probably not until he nukes Bombay or Kashmir.
Look at the picture of this reptile, in his suit and little glasses, looking so studious and contemplative... what a farce. He is an animal, but he is smart - playing both sides against the middle. And we're falling for it hook, line and sinker.

Pakistan
Sept. 27, 2006, 3:26 a.m.President Mushaaraf is not elected, but he deserves to be, he is smart, savy and politically astutue, but most of all he is honest, as he can be under the circumstances.
He has learnt how the Previous Army General and the U.S Ambassador was blown up by CIA after Soviet Union fell.
He insured himself through his book, he would be well served to open one school with partial proceeds of the book.
Smart move on Jon Stewarts part to get the President on his show.
His answer to who would win Bin Laden or Bush in pakistan was classic and diplomatic.
The truth be known both are hated by the intelligensia
