Sept. 18, 2006, 1 a.m.This is most troubling. The most outrageous part of this article is the title. It is doubtful that any true Christian would worship a picture of the President. That is outlandish. If it's true then this is a cult indeed. Now, if it turns out that the kids are praying FOR (not to) the president, then the article is somewhat slanted.
I am forced to ask, where are the parents of these children and did they give consent for their children's images to be in this documentary?
The "militaristic" allegory is alsoquite upsetting but there is a history in this country (think of the hymn "Onward Christian Soldiers marching as to war..."). When that was written, it was a "spiritual" warfare. Now that children in the Middle East are taught the wonders of suicide bombings and practice wearing the bombs at a young age, the Christian people are doing themself a disservice by attaching themselves to this terminology of war, especially during a time of war.

Sept. 18, 2006, 1:18 a.m.The director of the camp says that she feels the documentary did NOT exploit them. I would agree and add one point -- SHE exploited the children by inviting the media into the camp. This is not about sharing one's faith. This documentary is like taking a video camera into a confessional booth or a group therapy session -- both of which are unethical and maybe unlawful.
As crazy as these activities seem, may be, actually are, are portrayed or any combination thereof: these are religious even sacred moments for these children that should not be on display for public consumption. The role of a "shepherd" is to guard the lambs from the wolves not to provide a map to the pasture.

Sept. 18, 2006, 7:06 p.m.The new young people's evangelical movement is just like the hippies of the 60's. Deviant behavior with good intentions. These young people wave their hands in the air, get aroused and high from listening to loud rhythmic music , experience intense emotions , and claim to hear the voice of Jesus. Sounds and looks a lot like Woodstock.
Easy to figure out why its happening now. Their parents are either old hippies or totally neglectful and absent. Once these children and young people intellectually mature they will realize how they have been deceived.

Sept. 18, 2006, 9:34 p.m.@Blargg, the narrator clearly says "worshipping to a picture of President Bush" as they show children clamoring to touch the cardboard cut-out.

Sept. 19, 2006, 4:28 a.m.It doesn't matter if they were worshiping a picture of the evil one (Bush). What about the way they were acting in general. This behavior is normal? I think not. What kind of parent would subject their children to such teachings.
Religion = Insanity

Sept. 19, 2006, 1:10 p.m.markjseydel,
I agree mark. The whole group reminded me of the Hippie Communes in the 60's. People crying , ranting , dancing, waving their arms in the air, playing the victim role for some higher cause. The only difference is these are young children who do not have the maturity to decide wether or not they want to a part of this radical behavior. It will back fire in the end. These young people will grow up one day and understand how they were emotinally and psychologically manipulated by the Evanagelical Fundamentalist Movement.They will disengage themselves from the radical ideas. Everything cycles and seeks balance. The current extreme behavior will only shift people the other away. Just takes time.
