Oct. 31, 2006, 8:30 a.m.blah...
From a terrorist's stand point this administration is a dream jihad come through, a Disneyland on sand.

Oct. 31, 2006, 10:23 a.m.He is right, only his timing is off. It was the 2000 election linked to a rise in Iraq violence!!!

Oct. 30, 2006, 8:55 p.m.Uh Huh ... I am sure we can rely on his infinite wisdom that this statement is accurate ... NOT!
Considering his track record of inaccurate statements and lies (war will last a few weeks or months, 2003 - several times; insurgency is in its 'last throes', May 2005) ... I do not believe ONE word he says ... !

Oct. 30, 2006, 9:27 p.m.Cheney is a boob, and with any luck, he'll be a boob behind bars soon.

Oct. 30, 2006, 9:39 p.m.If they were paying as close attention as he says...I think they would be planning a drop right on Cheney's head!

Oct. 30, 2006, 9:46 p.m.Think about it VP Cheney, with the amount of electricity they have there and the limited time they have it, I am sure their priority is US elections. Not convinced.

Oct. 30, 2006, 11:09 p.m.Little Georgie's puppet master makes yet another pronouncement that reinforces the fact that he's never had a clue about this war. While real people are needlessly dying he desperately pulls a little public relations talking point out of his sleeve. The only thing he really cares about is Halliburton's bottom line and the longer we stay there the better for him. Contemptible, reptilian, war profiteering idiot!
Question for you armchair theologians: Is it possible to have more than one anti-Christ?

Oct. 31, 2006, 12:21 a.m.On the NBC news tonight, they ran a report about some of the servicemen that have died this month in Iraq. They showed one 6-year old child CRYING for her father. Then they showed a widow who is pregnant, whose child will never know their father.
The media does NOT show enough of this reality of the war. The country is so removed from all that death (our soldiers and the Iraqis) - that is why the administration can continue it.
It just turns my stomach and makes my heart ache and makes me cry for the families of the soldiers that have died because we went into Iraq based on lies. And then it makes me SO angry that this administration is responsible for those deaths.

Oct. 31, 2006, 8:59 a.m.Bubba..you are so right..not only doesn't the media show enough but we also have jingoistic white-washers creating slide shows of soldiers holding kittens instead of cutting people in half with an m-16 on full auto , forming prayer circles and getting a thumbs up from a group of school children (actually "thumbs up" in that part of the world is an insult). They show tearful reunions of those that return--but not the anguish of those not so blessed.
I do believe Cheney is right.. the insurgents want to sway the US elections..in FAVOR of the republicans by scaring everyone into voting for them .If they wanted the Dems to win they would cease fire and stop the war so we wouldn't have a reason to remain

Oct. 31, 2006, 10:05 a.m.You hear about the casualties in Iraq, but you don't hear about how it is tearing apart the families left at home. Many are having problems paying the bills, taking care of the children, etc. What is happening to the families of our troops is very sad, yet the media keeps it out of sight.
The old saying applies here, "Out of site, out of mind". If every one knew how bad the troop's families are suffering here in America the call for withdrawal would be much louder!!
Many soldiers are coming home to a life that has been ruined by combat injuries or relationship problems from being gone for so long. It is very sad.

Oct. 31, 2006, 12:36 a.m.The Viet Cong did the same thing in VietNam and it did influence the elections. Do any of you really think that not having electricity would keep a terrorist from using the same tactics today? Of course a part of the upsurge in violence is to influence our elections. And it works, just read all the anti-war posts from the usual suspects on the Left and all the bleeding hearts.

Oct. 31, 2006, 3:36 a.m.Ummm So Iraqis don't want to be occupied?
Gee wiz
What a surprise.

Oct. 31, 2006, 3:59 a.m.No I do not believe they do think! That's the problem, like so many they hate Bush so much they would willingly sacrifice their security and that of their children based on their hatred, even though Bush is not even up for reelection.
People like Jaxguy, sandman, geekgrrrl, silvra, and bubba; do not discuss or debate their mind is made up and they do not wish to be bothered with trivial things like rational thought, or facts, such as terrorists want to kill us!
-

Donnaich
Oct. 31, 2006, 5:02 a.m.If they're sure that they are "monitoring" the elections, why aren't they zeroing in on them? After all, I'm sure they can zero in on their IP address (my security software can show you a city, imagine what they have), lock in on satellite communications, etc.
... or is it that it doesn't fit in with the war plans?
And if the violence doesn't stop post-elections, whats the next excuse? I seriously doubt they will ever concede that the Iraqis want us OUT, or that we've allowed Al Queda to build strength with the heavyhanded tactics.

Oct. 31, 2006, 8:43 a.m.Bleeding hearts? Why would we the people want a bunch of idiots running the country? Those that are have not been doing a good job.
Bush's policies:
Stay and Die.
Cut taxes and spend and spend and spend.
Divide the country.
Bring more dishonor to the Whitehouse.
Blame the past administration for his mistakes.
Err on the side of "life".

Oct. 31, 2006, 2:35 a.m.It would be nice to be able to trust the Vice President of the country. Wouldn't that be nice? Imagine a world where you didn't have to fact check what the leaders of your nation told you or compare their statements of today with what they said last week, month or year. Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to endure the embarrasment of "That depends what 'sexual relations' means." and "Stay the course never meant 'stay the course'."? Yeah, that would be awesome.
You might as well imagine a world made of cocobutter and ice cream.

Oct. 31, 2006, 3:44 a.m.....and how do we explain the verdict on the Saddam trial to be known a day before the elections? If the courts can bow to the wishes of a foreign power, then when can Iraq be really democratic?
-

Oct. 31, 2006, 6:51 a.m.Yeah, good timing...
I've been expecting them to say they've taken Bin Ladin out (perhaps it was supposed to be Al Zawahiri, but we may have botched that one) for Rove's "Surprise". But if they're so sure they have a bead on him, why isn't he dead already? Are they afraid they can't justify spreading the war a bit further? Or if he's already dead, they're "holding fire" to maximize the political effect, while our troops are dying...?
It really is sad when you even have to WONDER if that is what is going on! But then, when you have secret government... Which is EXACTLY what old "smilin' Dick" wants! Because as aides to the President Gerald Ford, Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney advised Ford to veto the new Freedom of Information Act, which came about as a result of the Watergate scandal.

Oct. 31, 2006, 7:53 a.m.Honestly guys, this is probably one of the most stupid, low accusations I've heard from these guys. I've heard a lot, some offensive, some not, but this is unbelievable. Don't fall for this stupidity people. What a moron.

Oct. 31, 2006, 7:55 a.m.Probably so. The Baghdad confectionary and floral shops are doing a huge business in anticipation of a GOP victory. No doubt on November 8, our guys and girls will be greeted with sweets and flowers instead of IEDs and bullets.
Right, Mr. Cheney?

Oct. 31, 2006, 8:11 a.m.Being the new guy I would hate to contradict anything being said here by a group that has obviously spent lots of time studying this situation. However, I think you give Mr. Cheney way to much credit. The only thing he has had to do with this war is to get his company a fat government contract. Having said that, I would agree with Taganan that this is a tactic used effectively by North Viet Nam. Loses mean nothing perception means everything.

Oct. 31, 2006, 9:04 a.m.You definitely need to see:
newamericancentury.org
You could not be wrong about Cheney's involvement. Bush would be the one with small role here. Haliburton is bit a bit part of his role. I don't even hold him accountable for that compared to his role in developing the current neo-con ideology. Specifically see his letter to Clinton in '98 urging immediate action against Iraq. He now claims there were no plans prior to 9/11 to attack Iraq. His usual doublespeak.
Haliburton was getting these contracts regardless of Cheney. They are the only US company with the capability of providing such a large service order. Very monopolistic.
-

Donnaich
Oct. 31, 2006, 9:39 a.m.If it is a tactic (which it may not be, but an indication of the increasing size and confidence of the insurgency and Al Queda), it would not be surprising, because we never learned the lesson of Vietnam.
NEVER invade a country that does not want foreign invaders.
They could do another thing, too. Just shut down operations, let us think we've won, and we'll go marching out strutting and crowing victory. And once we're gone... hello boys, I'm baack! Come in reinforced from Iraq and Syria, overthrow our handpicked government (or let them show their independance from us and welcome them), and we've gained... nothing. A lot of dead troops.
We should have fought a "shadow war" with Al Queda before, and we should be doing it NOW. Not letting our troops mark time in the kill zone. That's not "Supporting the Troops".

Oct. 31, 2006, 8:36 a.m.Watched Lynn Cheney's interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN the other night. She is as big a wind bag as her husband.Of course, after the interview VP Cheney says they were referring to the interview as Lynn's smackdown of Wolf Blitzer.Well,Mr. Cheney your wife cites the same baseless "evidence" that the rest of the Republican ilk uses to defend their stupid illogical policy blunders.Come Nov.7 Mr Cheney, you and your rich, ignorant, arrogant, and uncaring Republicans are going to learn the true meaning of"SMACK DOWN"!!!!

Oct. 31, 2006, 9:27 a.m.Let me tell ya Mr.Cheney, it is time for you to shut up. If not don't worry, the voters will shut you up on Nov 7th. This is a desperate attempt to get the swing voters to their side. But what Cheney don't know is the cream of the Republican voters are voting for Democrats this time around. Those moderate Republicans are fed up with the corruption, deception and war mongering of these money thirsty ex oil executives. It is over Cheney.

Oct. 31, 2006, 1 p.m.Now Cheney's wife is peddling a new book on CNN, and thought she could do it without being questioned about current affairs.

Oct. 31, 2006, 9:34 a.m.If those fighters can influence the US election it clearly shows the US has become impotent, where the American forces are just the puppets in the hands of the fighters, what were the Americans doing with tanks and helicopters, Bush & co hi proving to the world he could only win if other parties don't fight or weak like those Indians.
