Some other thoughts on how to get someone to watch more than a minute of your video:

    1) Make your video's picture larger than a 1X1 inch square.

    2) Give your video an anamorphic picture framing. People learn in basic photography something called "the rule of thirds" - the 1.85 to 1 ratio is much like an 8X10 inch photo, more interesting to the eye than a square frame. It also seems more "movieish" and thus more professional.

    3) Pay attention to the QUALITY of image and sound. Does your movie look like RealVideo? Are giant blocks of pixelation floating across the image? Is your sound garbled and tinny? If they are, why would anyone want to inflict more than a minute on themselves?

    4) Can this charge for it BS. However, if you insist on being part of the first wave that'll have us all paying $1 for every YouTube video we watch, putting out a kick-a55 trailer isn't a bad idea. It works for the money hounds in Hollywood.

When Google Video was toying with the idea of allowing anyone to sell videos I got really excited by the idea of having the full streaming version play for free and then charge $0.99 to download it for keeps. I always thought this was the best compromise since the viewer could watch it as many times as they want in a low quality view, but to download a higher version with the ability to take it anywhere would cost. Alas, Google has postponed their plans of allowing anyone to sell their content indefinitely. What a shame!
