Posted by: Spadecaller 2 years, 11 months ago

"DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: The Carlyle Group, a politically connected investment firm considered a power broker in military industries, announced Sunday that it opened an office in Dubai's new financial district. Carlyle's headquarters is in Washington, on Pennsylvania Avenue near the White House." A convenient location indeed...

"The former spokesman for the U.S. occupation in Iraq, Dan Senor, worked for Carlyle before heading to Baghdad's Green Zone."

How much of this will we, Americans, tolerate before we demand that our elected officals get off their butts in Washington and put a stop to this strategic warmongering and profiteering?

How much of this we'll we tolerate? The lives of innoncent people are being thrown down in front of their money making machines.

Want to know where a huge chunk of our tax dollars, and our National Security are going?

Very informative video on the Carlyle Group.

IT seems there is no end to this type of action. What is wrong with us? why do we keep putting up we all/all/all these obviously greedy, deceitful, people who are hand and hand with our government? and our goverment? We can't fund health insurance for everyone? what a joke. We can't take care of a disaster properly a la Katrina? Instead we want to blame the victims? What right do they have for expecting some of OUR tax money to help them in their time of need? No way. But a great deal more of our tax money can be wasted on this war, the builders and shakers, etc etc etc. It just get mind numbing. And with no slander intended, at all, how can some of these people on the right defend this kind of stuff?

      I need a drink.

      ciao....

My first thought was that Carlyle must feel very secure to be opening a major office in Dubai, basically right in the heart of "terrorist" country.

Then I read that Dubai was home to European banks and U.S. investment as well as an international stock exchange. So I'm thinking, how in God's name can these people expect security when Bin Laden is flying planes into buildings in New York?

I was about to toss it up to the arrogance of moneyed elitism but then I flashed on an old western I saw.

Some kid has hooked up with an older, more experienced bank robber and they've ridden in to a typically dusty Texas town. The kid doesn't know why they're there so he asks the older guy if they're going to rob the bank. The old robber says no and the kid asks why. The old robber winks and nods at the bank and says, "Because that bank is where I keep MY money."

Osama isn't going after the Arabian Wall Street because that's where he keeps his money.

But GOD, does Carlyle have reach! They must have been developing it for 25 years now. Alarming to see so many leaders so fully invested in this, a corporation that virtually embodies the military/industrial complex. There's no use even WORRYING about the MIC anymore because apparently our government IS the MIC.

Ha! And to think I used to worry about the Bush family's hotel concerns in Panama! This makes that concern seem positively trivial.

Why do you suppose the Bin Laden family divested after 9/11?

You people never seem to surprise me with the stuff you write, especially ind06. Most of you probably think that that the Arabs all live in this vast land mass called Arabia. Nevermind that Arabs live in various countries, with their own issues, that don't always center around the zionist entity. The U.A.E. is one of the safest Arab countries on the planet. It hosts a tier 2 golf tournament and tennis tournament. Hell they even sell booze there.

To clue those of you who are not familiar with this country, out of all the oil producing Arab nations, this one has the most limited reserves. The various Emirs are taking their oil wealth and are diversifing their various emirates into other forms of business for the betterment of their peoples.

Countries like Qatar, Oman, and the U.A.E are the safest places of the middle east and are staunch allies in the so called war on terror

What I meant was the U.A.E. is setting itself up to be the Switzerland of the Mid-east by being a vacation, banking, information and technology hub.

And as far as supporting and exporting terrorism, the U.S. has done its share to support what other countries would call terrorist groups. Hell the government is harboring a known terrorist in Luis Carrillo Prada.

Yes, our governments all share the guilt of war and of spurring terrorism.

The skeletons in our governments closets are too many to report. There are too many concealed in vaulted tombs that most of us will never know anything about.

I know from experience -- not from what I've been told, or from what I've read.
