Nov. 22, 2006, 11:56 a.m.This story is a must read for anyone considering Mitt Romney for a candidate for President.Romney is a mormon, and after living in the mormon capital of Salt Lake City for over 20 yrs I have seen that Mormons definitly believe in putting their religion into the laws that govern everyone. When you hear news reports about people like Warren Jeffs the polygamist who is charged with marrying off underage girls to older men and committing organized welfare fraud, you must understand that this represents the beliefs of most Mormons in spite of their public denials. Many christian denominations here in SLC do not even consider Mormons to be Christians. The widespread belief among non Mormons here is that they are a cult. And a dangerous one at that. Now,through Romney they are seeking to place one of their own in the highest office in the land.

Nov. 22, 2006, 12:04 p.m.Here is just one example of popular Mormon attitudes-
When the people of Utah wanted their legislature to implement a state lottery,a majority of citizens wanted it,A majority of legislators wanted it and were in favor of passing it when the resident representative of the Mormon church, who sits in on every legislative session, espoused the churches official stand on a lottery-
"A lottery would lead to alcoholism, pornography and Ted Bundy-like behavior" and the measure was immediately killed against the peoples will.

mntnman444
Nov. 22, 2006, 12:11 p.m.Another example-
The state of Utah created the office of the state "Porn Czar".They chose a person who was a never been married,41 yr old Mormon virgin. Her official job was to view porn movies and determine what the community standards were in deciding whether or not it could be viewed by the public.Privately owned Mormon companies have been threatened with lawsuits by Hollywood producers for editing their movies to make them "family friendly" without the producers permission.
I give these examples of Mormon attitudes because Romney is a mormon and no matter what he says publicly,he DOES believe in these opinions and would try to enact laws that supported them and that is a danger to us all.

Nov. 22, 2006, 12:20 p.m.Another example-
Liquor laws in Utah are very strict and confusing,Mormons are rabidly anti-alcohol.Even though gambling is another taboo for Mormons,a very popular thing to do for Utahns is to go across the border to Nevada to gamble in casinos.A private company in UT provided a bus that went to the casinos and on the bus people were allowed to drink. The Mormon church vehemently opposed the allowing of alcohol on the bus even though it prevented people from driving drunk home from the casino.Apparently there was an obscure law that prevented it.The state legislature attempted to repeal that law with the backing of a majority of citizens and the Utah State Highway Patrol as a way to cut down on drunk drivers, but the Mormon church objected and once again the 90% all white male legislature caved to the church and killed the effort ,resulting in more drunk drivers and alcohol related deaths.

Nov. 22, 2006, 12:24 p.m.I am not a Mormon and never have been.I have just lived through the experience of having a radical religion dictate what I can do,see ,hear and think and I dont think it has any place in the office of President. The man who wrote this arcticle has 30 yrs experience and should at least be listened to.Romney is the WRONG man for the job!

Nov. 22, 2006, 12:51 p.m.Another example of Mormon hipocracy-
For years,Mormons were not allowed by the church to drink Coca-Cola.Several years ago the Mormon church purchased the Coca-Cola bottling plant in SLC.As happens often, the leader of the Mormon church had a "revalation" from god that it was OK now for Mormons to drink Coke.

Nov. 22, 2006, 2:08 p.m.Theres no way that theses cooks would get elected. Then they would be making laws based upon the super secret ancient plate tranlations that only Joe Smith Jr could see. Who is dumb enough to believe this crap? Oh I know, the children of idiots who have forced it down there throats to the point that they dont know any different.

Nov. 22, 2006, 2:17 p.m.Thats why I truly beleive that certain states shouldnt even be allowed to vote. If you dont contribute to the rest of the country and activly take part in the customs of it, your state should either catch up or not vote. Its isolated, religiously governed places that are so disconnected from the revenue generating areas of the country, who vote in people like our current president There is no place for religion in politics. That was why we created America, to get away from a religion based government. Small minds from small towns are easily duped by religious leaders. They think they are doing whats right but it most cases they are being used.

I dont know if you live in UT,but if you do,you must realize the importance of educating people about the true mormon ways.Even mormons from other states visit here and are amazed at the attitudes of mormons here.

Nov. 22, 2006, 4:09 p.m.Romney is already showing his colors. In one of the most tolerant states in the country, when the people decided to allow gay marriage and were backed by the courts,Romney tried to use an obscure law from the 1800's to try to take that right away against the peoples will.He would do the same to the United States if he were President.

Nov. 22, 2006, 4:14 p.m.Romney came running for Govenor with a spotless record. Our schools are in disaray, he just tried to shut down most of our state run mental hospitals. I think most of the people in this State are not overly concerned with the gay marriage thing but he is still trying to shove a ban down our throats. We elected him to run this State and now he is making fun of us down South just to gain votes. Romney is a crapbag and a Mormon, I guess the two go hand in hand. Thanks for the post mntnman444 and thanks for the heads up.

Nov. 22, 2006, 4:22 p.m.Yes,the appointment to head the Olympics in SLC and the run for Gov of Mass were just efforts to build his resume for President. He NEVER cared about Massachusetts.

Nov. 22, 2006, 4:56 p.m.We figured that out a while ago, that's why his lieutenent Heally was beaten so badly even though we know that an all Democratic legislature is bad news.Romney is a well polished turd.

Nov. 22, 2006, 5:04 p.m.I tried to register and comment on Romney's official '08 website but its taking some time to go through.I guess they have to investigate to see if I'm republican enough to have an opinion heard.Thats OK,I just wanted to inform him of my campaign against him.

Nov. 22, 2006, 9:54 p.m.mntnman44: I do know some Mormons. Mainly nice people, a few losers, a few winners, just like any other people. Would fit right in, anywhere. However, Western Utah was totally different. Pretty country..Bryce and Zion...but those people seemed a bit strange... Eastern Utah was totally different, as far as the people were concerned. Normal, there.

Nov. 22, 2006, 10:18 p.m.thanks
I would also like to say a few nice things about mormons,my goal is not to trash mormons but to warn people in other parts of the country to do their homework when considering electing a mormon president.
Most mormons are very decent, hard working, family oriented and spiritual people.I believe wholeheartedly in their right to practice their religion any way they choose, wherever they choose.
The danger lies with a small group of leaders who ,I believe, use the people to support and finance the "business" that the leaders have turned the church into. The church is rapidly building capitol around the world and eager to get one of their own into the White House.I feel that everyone should know about the things that most people quite frankly, would find a little strange and even scary.
Such as,I dont think most people of different religions know that after they die, they are baptised mormon by the church to give their souls one last chance to choose the right religion.

Nov. 23, 2006, 1:15 p.m.Well,I just got my first hate mail from djwilli. Thanks,Happy Thanksgiving to you too.
Utah is divided between mormons and non mormons with Much disagreement. The mormons are so blindly defensive of their leaders and intolerant of any other beliefs. This hate mail just proves my point that mormons have NO place in our govt.
djwilli,if you think the Coca-Cola thing is not true then I can see you know absolutely nothing,it is a fact that my mormon friends even laugh about.
Heres another one-When a mormon decided to defraud the church by saying he had documents concerning the giant white salamander who rose up and handed Joseph Smith the gold plates that became the Book of Mormon,he was discovered as a fraud and went around blowing people up who could expose him.Thats until he blew himself up accidently. On the first day,the Mormon representative said the church had never heard of him,on the second day,the same person said that he had ripped off the church for $6 million.
-

mntnman444
Nov. 23, 2006, 1:27 p.m.Oh and djwilli-
You better get a louder voice than sending me personal hate mail because I intend to keep warning people about the true mormon ways until Romney is seen for the radical religious extremist that he is.
Why dont you come on here in public and debate the subject?Oh,I forgot, another mormon trait...afraid to debate your beliefs in public.

April 16, 2007, 8:45 a.m.Ok... What I highly dislike first of all is that this is just a few angry losers who got together to bash a religion on a blog.
Second of all I dislike how you idiots are grouping Mormons in as a whole.
Those who are members of Mormonism are still individuals and therefore given to actions that the church may advise against.
Also, there are different Sects of the Mormon church. There is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then there are others like the Reformed Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints or whatever they are calling themselves now.

April 16, 2007, 8:54 a.m.If you idiots are so willing to barrage the church with reason after reason of why it is so false then try defending your own. Earlier I heard the most prominant Anti-Mormon say you attend mass which leads me to assume that you either attend a Catholic church. Need I say more?
"Funny story - when I was young there was a specific few Mormons that came by our house once, sometimes twice, a week. My mother handled it with grace each time, expressing her commitment to her own faith and requesting that they please not come by anymore. It fell on deaf ears and each week, there they were again...exact same people."
If that is even true then I apologize about that. Some members are a little overzealous about the spreading of the religion or possibly they just forgot, who knows, But they at least get up every morning working for something they believe in which is more than what could be said about you.
You probably pay to have your sins forgiven.WOW UR CHRCH GUD

ABANOCLA
April 24, 2007, 6:52 a.m.I fail to see any links to these claims??
Such as,I dont think most people of different religions know that after they die, they are baptised mormon by the church to give their souls one last chance to choose the right religion
this is false, baptisms for the dead, are done for a families deceased family memebers only, other people may actually do the baptism on behalf of people who have searched their geneology and submitted a name for baptism, a person is baptised by full immersion and if they wish to accept it in the afterlife that is their choice, they are not forced baptised.
I love his profile about live and let live and so on.....
got links or it is just a bunch of drival.
I will say I have no intention of voting for Romney tho, but certainly not because of any of these poorly layed out non verfied ravings.
