Dec. 13, 2006, 12:09 a.m.looks cool... some thoughts:
1. I'd show the comment on the top level of the comments page.
2. The add button doesn't seem to work on the My Friends Page for suggested friend (it just hangs)
3. The bio section kind of sucks... you can't put a return in, you can't post Javascript, and you can't put in images. I suggest making it a WYSIWYG... let folks get creative!!!
4. I'd let folks upload photos of themselves. Photos is a great way to get to know someone.
looks nice!

Dec. 13, 2006, 12:52 a.m.Yeah I'd like it if people could spruce up their bio with some formatting a little bit
I also liked the old section of seeing what stories a user had submitted made the homepage, that should be brought back in some way. As long as we're requesting feature, it would be cool if users could set up a list of tags they like and have it generate a page of stories with those tags.

Dec. 13, 2006, 5:29 a.m.Agree with Jason and Corey, some things been best left as it were.
Some buttons do not work. Our Mac version of Firefox became stuck. Switched to Neyscape browser.
Cheers Jason, we have missed your comments.

PinkyPie
Dec. 13, 2006, 12:33 a.m.I may be the lone dissenter but I hate it. I liked opening my profile page and being able to see everything at a glance. I could check quickly on the latest stories I commented on & whether there was any action on the thread. Same with stories I submitted. I could also see if anything I submitted made it to the front page--where is that available now? Now I have to click between several different pages to get the same info.
I don't like that everything is laid out like the front page now--too confusing. It all looks the same. The avatars are too small to see clearly which renders them useless. They are no more than blobs of color now.
Other than that, everything's swell :0

Dec. 13, 2006, 8:38 a.m."And if you're going to make such drastic changes, COULD YOU AT LEAST INFORM US ALL OF IT BEFOREHAND? That was like a dousing of ice water"
So true. Like PinkiePie said, it was better to see everything together in the old format

Dec. 13, 2006, 5:29 p.m.I agree. The profile pages were one of the few parts of the design that I actually liked. Figures. I also can't find the "send message" button that used to be located so conveniently. I urge Netscape to change to profiles back and actually listen to their audience this time instead of shoving us off as "not giving it enough of a chance".

Dec. 13, 2006, 1:03 a.m.While I'm bitching, I hate the boxes in the friends section. I don't need to constantly see their stats. Likewise, I don't like that feature on the front page for the top contributors. Bring back the avatars--I'm sensory deprived!
Complaining aside...love you all & appreciate what you're doing. I also appreciate that you listen to all of us....HINT, HINT ;)

Dec. 13, 2006, 7:59 a.m.Stoners,
I agree with you and Pinky. But what's with this "half" thing instead of "have". Not criticizing you, but just happen to notice it in many of your postings.lol
BTW, I like many of your posted articles.

Dec. 13, 2006, 2:43 a.m.This is Blaine from the NS dev team. Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for their feedback so far - positive or otherwise, it helps shape the direction of the features you use. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration! I will say that the current profile setup is based on a lot of feed back on making features people use more often easier to get at and features people use less often buried.
More urgently, a few minor bugs have been discovered and we will be pushing out fixes tomorrow (Wednesday). I have personally been squashing bugs and fielding comments all evening throughout the wee morning hours. Gotta love the coffee and the Netscape!

Dec. 13, 2006, 3:07 a.m.The good:
1. The friends page loads much faster
2. I can finally get rid of all the non mutual friends
3. easier to find unclaimed friends
4. easier to see friends' activity
the bad (sorry)
1. add friend on a user's profile doesn't work
2. how do I send someone a message? do I have to locate one of their comments and send the message then?
3. The friends submitted stories is gone. I'm not going to go one by one and see what they submitted. It was nice to be able to see all the submissions on one page. For me this is a DEAL BREAKER. It's hard enough to vote on Netscape as it is. THe "find new stories" page is awful, and I could always rely on just getting good friends and reading their stories. Is this going to be gone forever?

Dec. 13, 2006, 8:44 a.m.Charbarred,
"The friends submitted stories is gone"
This is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, it is unfair that someone post an article several hours later than someone with fewer friends and it makes front page.
I have experience this many times.I don't know what the solution is, but somtimes it seems like a popularity contest.

Dec. 13, 2006, 9:31 a.m.1. add friend on a user's profile doesn't work
I had this problem too.
Sending a personal message is a problem too.

Dec. 13, 2006, 3:14 a.m.Found another problem:
1. The friends list pager doesn't work. I can only see the first page of friends, and cannot go forward, it just takes me to my profile page.
-

ind06
Dec. 13, 2006, 3:56 a.m.I have the same problem with only being able to see the first page of my friends and the second page takes me back to my profile.
And I'd like to second the itty-bitty avatar complaint. If they're going to be so small, why even have them?
It's also a lot more difficult to send a friend a message or see what my friends have posted. I too used both of those features.
And finally I'd like to make the comment that around noon I discovered that everyone currently on line had their IP address posted next to their name. Myself included. If you guys had anything to do with this I'm pretty angry. I'm sure you don't need to be told what a security breach something like that is...

Dec. 13, 2006, 4:05 a.m.I agree with all of PinkyPie's comments and ind06 I seen that too and was not all that happy either,It showed peoples addresses, suite numbers and phone numbers even their Internet carrier. The last line is what got me, said some number# at the bottom to find more info out on this person.
-

coreyspring
Dec. 13, 2006, 4:22 a.m.The mistake you are referring to earlier exposed IP addresses when the changes were being rolled out - the WHOIS information associated with those IP addresses would be for your internet service provider, and not *your* addresses, phone/suite numbers.
Of course it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Dec. 13, 2006, 4:47 a.m.I thought the "add" links on the profile page didn't work as well, but when you click them a message shows in the right side of the page saying "suchandsuch was added to your friends"

Dec. 13, 2006, 8:04 a.m.I'm having trouble sending private messages to members (except as a reply in an existing message thread).
When I go to "message center", click on "Send a message", "select a friend" from the list, and "send message", it comes up "Message not sent: You must provide a member name to send to".
It DOES work if I manually type in a "recipient", but, as I say, NOT if I select a friend.
I cleared my cache and cookies, so what gives?

Dec. 13, 2006, 8:18 a.m.Leave it the way it was. Too much effort is being placed on friends especially for someone who doesn't have any or want any.

Dec. 13, 2006, 9:02 a.m.I guess it's just like anything else, it will take some getting used to, then we will all probably love it. At least that's what i am hoping for!!

Dec. 13, 2006, 9:17 a.m.I'd go so far as to say I don't like one bit of the change. I'm not going to re-hash all the complaints that have been made already. It's obvious to me, and most of the user I think, that this was a bad change.
-

Dec. 13, 2006, 9:37 a.m.I don't particularly like the change.
