Starbucks bans trans fat-laden pastries at half its U.S. stores »

Ban here. Ban there. Next up, it's Starbucks. No, not a ban on the coffee (though that wouldn't be a horrible thing), but a ban on foods with trans-fats from Starbucks stores

Good. I avoid their pastries because of the trans fats. Life's hectic, and trying to get decent food when you're running around, is a pain. Now I can occasionally grab a muffin without so much guilt....or worry. Trans fats are not good for people.

Have you ever seen the calorie listing for Starbuck's pastries? My guess is that they are loaded with sugar. I love the maple nut scones, for example, but they are over 400 calories. Congrats to Starbucks for eliminating trans fats, but I will still be avoiding their pastries. My health is more important than the momentary pleassure of eating junk food!

Whoa, let's not forget the calories in their drinks. Do you know how many calories there are in a frappucino? Trans fats are bad, but calories are important as well. And I doubt the non-use of trans fats in their food is going to lower the calories there much.

        Blended Mocha Frappucino, w/Whip - Venti -- 530 calories

Congrats to Starbucks on their new ad gimmick. Trans fats are probably way worse than the pounds of sugar, bleached flour, and chemical preservatives still contained in the muffins, but this kind of food is NOT EVER going to be good for you. Fat people just shouldn't eat this stuff all the time.

Starbucks can do what they like. I'm healthy, my weight is perfect, if I want a slice of iced lemon pound cake now and then and it has bad, evil fats in it, so what? Since I'm in one of the locals targeted for the change, I'll just skip their less-fat version and I will probably not be alone. When their sales go down, the fat will be back. Why not just set up a Dept. of Healthy Food and control every bite every person in this country eats? Then no one will ever get sick and no one will ever die. NAHT!

By the way, I remember a time when it was recommended, by doctors, too, to replace a stick of butter with a stick of margarine. Now they say that margarine is bad. Moderation in all things. As Jack LaLanne says, "Exercise is King, Diet is Queen, and together you have a kingdom." He disagrees with all this nitpicking of what is good/bad to eat. A daily low-fat muffin isn't "good". Just eat as naturally as possible and make sure you move your body every day and that's the best anyone can do. There are TONS of fat people who eat nothing but lo-carb, lo-fat, sugar subs, etc. When I eat ice cream it's real ice cream, when I eat bread, it's real bread. One real chocolate chip cookie made with butter is a lot better than a box of Healthy Choice cookies.

Starbucks on their new ad gimmick, O well.

Dunkin donuts are worth the flight to the east coast. But even there, my car does not froce me to go there. Moderation for anything. Run for you life theres a tray of dunkers screeming.

One cup of sweet coffee, no sugar, moderation, one dunker please.

gee now if they could only stop serving the sugar coated coffee drinks.

check out the calories on those concoctions.
