Jan. 8, 2007, 9:12 p.m.I so don't agree with no child left behind. They tried holding back my daughter who had a 3.8 at the end of the year. They wanted her to take all sorts of extra classes with no electives. I butted heads with them and then found out she was up to standard on everything but math. She missed passing that by just thread.
So I agreed to two math classes a day. Now her math teacher doesn't even know why she is in there. I just told my daughter to take this opportunity and to get stronger in math.
Also, so many teachers are against this. All these tests and prepping for tests really takes away from learning time.

Jan. 9, 2007, 2:21 p.m.There are plenty of children being left behind here. My sister is a teacher, and if she didn't spend her own money to buy supplies for her classroom, there would be NO supplies.
No child left behind is a joke!

Jan. 9, 2007, 11:30 p.m.I know, I get tired of constantly having to send supplies to school much faster than my child is using them. I think only some parents send what they are supposed to and then everyone elses kids uses them. Whatever they are lacking gets bought by teachers. When I was a child, all I had to supply was pencils and paper. We had a big thing of scissors and glue was also supplied.
Now you even have to supply the photocopy paper that they print out their worksheets on.....soap, tissues, snacks, folders, glue, and glue sticks, disenfectant and snacks. Oh and you have to send money for the little educational scholastic newsletters we got for free when I was in school.
