I NEVER was a morning person, and I'm still not one even in my 30's. For years I would have a day job and it would be torture to get up at 5 am. Later I got 3d shift and it was so EASY to get up for work! I didn't drag myself out of bed, I got out with no problems. Not everyone is a morning person, and some people need more or less sleep than others.

I think it's a cultural thing: it is a tradition among teenagers to stay up late at night, and I think their bodies adjust after a while, and that THIS is why the researchers are finding melatonin levels, etc. fluctuating the way they are.
