It is just miserable in Oklahoma City. Icy roads, cold weather and another round of Snow and Ice by this weekend.

Here in central Missouri, tiny spherical ice particles have congealed to form an unforgivingly slippery and nearly undentable crust. A informal poll conducted by a local TV station revealed that 60% of respondants who've ventured out have fallen down at least once, with 20% of them falling EVERY TIME they leave the house!

[Pgh. PA] We dodged the bullet. We had 3 days of steady rain and Tuesday went to snow. Thank goodness it wasn't a sudden freeze or our A**es would have really been on a slippery slope

I was stationed in Hawaii for 6 years,Iraq for a year, Afghanistan for 6 months and my wife is from Puerto Rico and I still moved back to Oklahoma to get away from pricks like you. We planned for the ice storm. We accumulated supplies, firewood, fueled the generator and took time off of work. It is just our way of venting our frustration. If you don't like to read us venting go somewhere else with your silly comments.

It's not too bad at the moment in Buffalo, New York AKA "The Home-Office of Winter." It's snowing gently -- nothing to compare with the hit we took on October 14th that killed off so many trees and left many people without power or heat for a month or more. Our hearts go out to you all who've taken the hit this time. Please don't panic; just stay warm and watch out for your kids and the older folks next door. And think of it this way: if you are reading this message, you probably have electricity!

We've been lucky here in Maryland this year - no Winter to speak of yet, and I hope we stay lucky. My Mom (88 years old!), in Minnesota has reported a mild winter there, although I haven't talked to her in a week. She doesn't go out at all in the winter - old folks don't like winter, but she's shaky on her feet even in good weather. My brother in NC reports a mild Winter around High Point. The Northwest, Northeast, and Mid-West seem to be geting the worst of it.

I'm in Oklahoma. It has been an absolute mess for five days. Still not above freezing and one big frozen skating rink. Where is FEMA? Why didn't Bush come here to see me? Why did no one come here to help me? Where is my $2000 debit card?

Think how bad it would have been if not for global warming.

Is it horrible if I say I'm jealous? I'm from New Jersey, and we haven't had snow yet, which I'm really upset about. It's been almost 70 for the last week, which I find ridiculous. I WANT WINTER! Honestly, I'm surprised that people are shocked that they're getting winter weather in the winter.

People where I live would love to have another ice storm... seeing that we only see snow or ice every 10 years or so... but I do understand the downs of ice storms and I hope that everyone is doing okay.

I was in Enid Oklahoma the last ice storm about 3 years ago and was without power for a week...made do with a fireplace hotdogs and marshmallows. The kids loved it for about 3 days after that they started getting a little tired of it. Trees that fell down on roofs and tore up houses were cut up for firewood for others in the area. It's called work together and make it work. Some had gas for heating while others had gas for stoves. So we would go to some houses to sleep and others to eat. It all worked out. No complaints. Makes you really like the passage of "Love thy neighbor".

I'm convinced that indoor smoking is the scientific cause of this global icing, just like those cave people who built fires inside their caves during the last Ice Age.

But what political party do we saddle this one on?

                              bbintulsa,

Hang in there, I wish I could say help is on the way to Tulsa.

FEMA is sending 50 whole generators and 3 truckloads of bottled water to Oklahoma City. With half a million without power, what could they be thinking?

Stop warming on your doorstep everyone, if it doesn't need to be plugged in, UNPLUG it. Plug it in only when you need it. Turn that powerstrip off at night, it will still protect your electronics, if its plugged in.

I know I am contradicting myself, but every little bit helps.
