Jan. 17, 2007, 10:31 p.m.I like your articles, they clearly present sound principled advice; they aren't trendy. They are exactly what a wide readership needs good advice no matter if one is starting out, changing careers, entry level, or professional. Keep up the good job.

Jan. 18, 2007, 9:51 a.m.In another life I was responsible for coordinating the staffing of a large overseas project for a huge test equipment manufacturer and I spent two months looking at literally thousands of resumes.
I would add three pieces of advice to this article. First- keep it brief. A two-page resume is one page too long.
Second- never use the first person. Statements like "I was responsible for the..." should read simply "Responsible for the...". MS Word will flag it as a fragment, but in this context it is perfectly appropriate.
Lastly, don't use colored paper or unusual fonts. If your resume needs to be accessorized to be noticed it probably shouldn't be in the pile in the first place.

It is very important to actually have experience and accomplishments.
I can spot fluff a mile away.

Jan. 18, 2007, 1:30 p.m.Emphasize accomplishments over "responsible for". People usually get hired in response to a specific need - to solve a problem in the organization. Your resume should tell a hiring manager what you can accomplish for him/her - what problems you can solve for them.
