My problem with Condi Rice as Secretary of State is that she's been long on promises and short on results. I see nothing in this story that would change my position.

Condi called the slaughter of civilians in Lebanon the "birth pangs of a new middle east". Peace is clearly NOT her goal.

What kind of diplomat refuses to talk to anyone? I thought we were mired in Iraq. So her focus is Israel and Palestine? She's out of her league.

If the Palestinians are looking for US to help solve the Israeli- Palestinian problem; it is like looking for Satan's help, Arabs are the biggest fools, if they believe the Americans to do something against the wishes of the Israelis, the Americans, and the Israelis are working hand in glove, how many times have the US used her veto power against the UN those resolution which condemned Israel, Israel is always above the law like the US, the United States is the enemy of the Muslim world, second only to Israel. America will do everything to strengthen Israel in the region, no matter what party in power, they are all the same, what a waste of time.

LOL...what else were they going to say: "Excuse me Miss Rice but let me share with you my plans to pretend to want peace while working multiple covert alliances with tribal factions in the Middle East with the intention of using but outmaneuvering them for total domination of the region and sucuring my syndicate's interests."...lol. Islam is a religion peace...once everyone is subdued under one ruler there is peace...it's the subduing part before peace and the relentless tribal deceits that are the problem...lol.

"Miss Rice, we want total peace derived from our total and benevolent dominion over the region. Please understand, Arabs are an unruly group and we may need to slaughter 10s of thousands of (fill in the blank; Jews, Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds, Turks, Somalis, Ethiopians, Afghans, Chechyans, Russians, etc...) to achieve our blissful vision."

        LOL

I give Condi credit for her education and accomplishments, but please she's nothing more than a puppet who echoes what she's told to say. She has no idea's or thoughts of her own and basically from what I see from her I don't see much.

That has to be the most uneducated and pathetic line of garbage ever uttered on this message board! You are out of line and likely so arrogant that you dont see how idiotic those statements truly are. Maybe we should see how many bodies you have in your own closet eh? I am guessing you are related to the Manson family...am I right? am I right?

I do agree however that most politicians are shielded in their little worlds, but also have access to info we never ever see.

Condi is doing the best she can with what she has to work with. We'll probably have to wait for twenty years to find out what she really thinks of this.

I've sort of noticed a cycle to this never ending saga in the middle east. Bad violence and terror for awhile, then it seems that everyone gets a little tired of all the death and destruction so there is talk of a settlement for a while, then the horror wears off and we're back to violence again. If we had just spent all the money we blew away (literally, in some cases) in this region and BOUGHT everyone there a house, a car, and their own well, there wouldn't BE a damn problem, would there? Between Bill Gates and Warren Buffet this problem could be SOLVED. Just send in a big fleet of moving vans and move everyone to somewhere nicer. It shouldn't be very hard to find someplace that would qualify. The U.S. could then BUY the entire area and turn it into vacation timeshares. And Casinos.

here's another example of some news that should probably considered good just being used as another springboard to jump all over the present administration.

                    Sigh.

This may be another example of good news, but.. I only see Rice saying its been fruitful. Progress is just keeping people from killing each other over there. I think other administrations have done a much better job of that. As for this I will wait for concrete results, not just her say so.
