Posted by: stephen-johnson 2 years, 10 months agoThe most alarming sentences that I have read in a long time came from the pen of my fellow atheist Sam Harris, author of The End of Faith, at the end of a September Los Angeles Times column upbraiding American liberals for their masochistic attitude toward Islamist totalitarianism. Jan. 22, 2007, 3:08 p.m.This statement is pretty deep:
"Some denounced me as cynical for saying at the time that Osama bin Laden had done us a favor by disclosing the nature and urgency of the Islamist threat, but I still think I was right. Both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have had to trim their sails a bit. The Taliban will at least never be able to retake power by stealth or as a result of our inattention. Millions have become aware of the danger-including millions of Shi'a Muslims who now see the ideology of bin Laden and Zarqawi as a menace to their survival. Groups and cells that might have gotten away with murder have wound up unmasked and shut down, from Berlin to Casablanca."

Jan. 23, 2007, 12:49 a.m.All non Muslims must see the hypocrisy and threat that Islam has created. I have first preped this comment with that sentence since I fail to observe most Muslims or Imams denouncing the acts of the radical Islamist. The radical Islamist viewpoint "IS" the viewpoint of most Muslims.
Similar to most religions, "Ours is the true religion" the Islamist are the most vocal and outspoken of this quote. Meanwhile they denounce any criticism as western crusader mentality. They fail to acknowledge that tolerance of all religions is accepted in Non Muslim nations but they fail to have the same tolerance within their own nations.
I agree that the threat of Islam is the greatest peril for a peaceful world. It alludes me though, that the average Muslim who resides in western societies take advantage of those Democratic principles that are taboo at home. They denounce the west and its culture but they refuse to go home. They are disingenious with their arguments.
