Bush, a former Texas oilman who has questioned the causes of climate change, last night proposed America cut its gasoline consumption by 20% over the next decade in a bid to curb global warming and reduce the country's reliance on oil from the Middle East.

Jan. 24, 2007, 1:38 p.m.Meanwhile, automakers like Suzuki and Volkswagon are making vehicles which get anywhere from 50 to 90 MPG, and our government is blocking their importation into the US.
In 2003, VW made a two-seater vehicle (the Lupo 1L) which was roadworthy and got over 240 MPG at freeway speeds.

They never took it into production. We have the technology to have cars running on vegetable oil and getting over 200 mpg. We are not doing it.
You decide where this administration REALLY stands on cutting fuel usage.

Jan. 24, 2007, 10:15 p.m.We could put a huge dent in the 20% by having carpool Wednesdays. I am shocked with all the war stuff over the years, Bush never asked us to sacrifice by reducing our oil consumption.
