Great now they are screwing with the real football game. People of America it is time to put soccer back in the closet before it infects our whole way of life. The only way we in america will watch soccer is if the hot women do it nude. Now that would be a good sport to watch.

Why? Why is he to be interviewed during the Super Bowl? Doesn't have anything to do with the Super Bowl. Does anyone else believe it's OBSCENE to pay this guy $250 million to play a G*d Damned SPORT? $250 MILLION DOLLARS! TO PLAY A FRIGGING GAME! No wonder this country's going to hell in hand basket. Same as with Hollywood. None of those people deserve the millions they are paid for acting in a movie. ACTING=PLAYING MAKE BELIEVE! Oh, Gawd!.....

I think this is a totally backwards way to approach promoting soccer... but it certainly does beg the question, why is professional soccer so far behind in the American sports scene? Doesn't almost every kid play soccer growing up? Certainly more than something like basketball or hockey.

English people will never call football 'soccer'. They may, after a war lasting several hundred years, agree to negotiate on their exclusive right to the term, but if anyone mentions the word "soccer" in these negotiations, this is likely to kick the whole thing off for another hundred years. In any event, the appropriate comparison is not with American football. In its monopolisation by a few greedy men who believe that they own the game anyway - it most resembles baseball.

Beckham is performing a public service. His interview will give football fans an opportunity to go to the kitchen for more beer and munchies.

Soccer differs from football in that it doesn't stop.During the Superbowl I challenge anyone to get a stopwatch and time the action from snap to whistle.Soccer is 90 min. of playtime, no opportunities for commercials. Therefore it will never be embraced by the networks. If people aren't exposed to and don't understand something then how can they possibly appreciate it when it is played well.Football even has contests and polls about the commercials. Soccer is a full contact sport, but like football has rules governing that contact. Play doesn't stop for injuries. If one of yours goes down, you use one of your subs(3 a game)or play a man short. Soccer players are among the most conditioned athletes in the world. What Beckham will do for the sport in this country? They already tried it with Pele. I do recall during MNF hearing lots of interviews with athletes from other sports as well as actors and musicians. I suspect the animosity from others in this post stems from something else.

Nobody cares about this. I think it's a close race between soccer and hockey for which is more boring to watch.

When it comes down to it, it's just soccer. Does anybody care? It's definetely a close race between soccer and ice soccer for most boring. Or is it, hockey and grass hockey?

David Beckham might not be the greatest player, and you guys might not be intrested in Soccer, but he is a good guy and our country is proud of him. Just because he is moving over here doesnt mean you guys HAVE to watch it or pretend to enjoy it. He has an oppertunity to come over here and play a sport which HE enjoys, give kids the oppertunity to get more intrested, give him a break. He is just trying to have abit of fun in his life, move to L.A and experiance something different. So stop being mean and taking it way to seriously. I know this is a forum, but I am English, and see it differently then all you guys, but just wanted to say my opinion. Hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy the Superbowl..Go Chicago..wooo
