Jan. 31, 2007, 1:23 a.m."Our position is we want him charged by the end of next month. We have made that very clear to the Americans," Howard told a news conference on Wednesday.
"We are not happy about the time that has gone by it is also important to remember the gravity of the charges."

Jan. 31, 2007, 3:18 p.m.U.S. military prosecutor Colonel Moe Davis denied Hicks was in poor physical and mental condition, but said the Australian was confined in his Guantanamo cell for long periods. >>>>
OK, let's put Davis in a cell for 'long periods' for five years and see how his 'mental health' sustains. What a dumb comment! But then, not surprising. Five years. No trial. No evidence required. Just cause 'we' say so. This is quite literally insane. And another of our closest allies bites the dust.

Feb. 1, 2007, 8:06 a.m.I agree. We need to do something with the people at Gitmo. I get the feeling that Bush is going to ignore this place and leave it for the next person in the White House. However, saying that I find it hard to sympathize with the plight of a person who was an armed combatant with a known terrorist group. Who was caught in action where they were trying to kill American troops. You have to remember that during an armed conflict confining someone does not require evidence only an event. This is that famous "gray area" we hear so much about.

Feb. 3, 2007, 7:07 p.m.Our government is known to have committed numerous atrocities the world over in the name of defense from terrorism, or communism, or any other "ism" we could possibly consider. I say charge the man with crimes or set him free. Lincoln could not suspend the Writ of Habeas Corpus and neither can Bush. We do not need to dishonor our allies by keeping their citizens in our concentration camps.
