Feb. 1, 2007, 2:32 p.m.I guess these guys are being a little too provocative for my liking but then how else can you spread the truth? I suppose they are no more provocative than the powerful and money rich Evangelical lobby. I agree with their sentiments, of course, but i think spreading the word is sufficient to help people arrive at their own conclusions rather than to actually destroy religion. Mind you the death threats made to them just about says it all. Talking of which they should also concentrate on denouncing Islam as well.

Feb. 1, 2007, 2:52 p.m.Thanks Neo, I am glad that this was posted and that we can be aware of the hurt some people are going through and how this "challenge" has tapped into that human weakness. The only thing I find ironic about this group is how militant someone can be about something that doesn't exist. It like any of us creating a militant group to prove that, lets say, Santa Claus doen't exist. It would begin on a contradictory and preposterous premise. It reminds me of a Spanish poet (Miguel de Unamuno, a Nobel laureate) who wrote a poem titled "The atheist's prayer" he begins the poem with "Hear my request, you god that doesn't exist".
At the end of the poem he says: "I suffer at your expense oh nonexistent god, because if you would exist, I would too."

Feb. 1, 2007, 2:54 p.m.Furthermore, the unpardonable sin is blasphemy to the Holy Spirit. It is in essence closing your door to the only Hope we have of declaring slavation of our souls when we are called by the Holy Spirit. If we die under such condition of constant denial we are closing the only means we have of salvation. Therefore our wish is not hatred towards those who deny God but compassion and prayers for them, love is the only power able to turn our hearts towards God. I also pray that any religious wackos out there continue with death threats to those that balspheme but that we reach out to them in love and compassion.

Feb. 1, 2007, 3:29 p.m.According to 10 myths - and 10 truths about atheism, atheists are not arrogant.
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-op-harris24
This story proves their arrogance, as well as their obnoxiousness, anew.
Atheists will exploit any opportunity to offend and attack those that believe in God. 'Take the Blasphemy Challenge' is just another perfect example of their Malice.
Regarding atheists, it is well past time for Liberals and Progressives to totally disown this elitist cabal of PC Stalinist whiners.

Feb. 1, 2007, 3:35 p.m.This is stupid. Who in their right mind would denounce something that they have no solid proof of that doesn't exist. Think...what if you are wrong? Then you just threw away your only chance. Now who is the illogical, unreasonable, unrationale person?
The one that does the simple task of admitting your are a flawed sinner and recognizes Jesus as your savior and tries to live the better life after that point is the smarter one. Being a Chrisitian is not some huge burden on your life why not do it? Why would anyone who had any moral or ethical backbone be against something as good as God, let alone the concept of God? I feel very sorry for these people.

Feb. 1, 2007, 4:09 p.m."Whoever wilfully blasphemes the holy name of God...shall be punished by imprisonment in jail for not more than one year..." Some believe there are many times in every person's life to commit civil disobedience. If you are an atheist in Massachusetts, one time may be now.

Feb. 1, 2007, 4:13 p.m.It takes more faith too believe that there is no God. By looking at the total beauty of the world and the universe around us it is quite obvious there is God. It's fine to denounce religion! God hates mans religion too. It's mans "religion" that has messed it up for man. Religion to God is taking care of the orphans and widows and keeping oneself from getting messed up from the "ways" of this world.
GOD IS LIFE! He loves these people as much as anyone else.
He has given all of us a choice and free will.

Feb. 1, 2007, 4:15 p.m.since i do not like people forcing their religion on me, i do not force my "anti-religion" on anyone, but since many religious people find it necessary to convert as many as possible, even with force, these people have every right to do what they are doing. but it is these people who recieve the death threats, from the people who ARE religious rather than the other way around. says alot doesnt it?

Feb. 1, 2007, 5:03 p.m.This is the ultimate no-win situation. If you are right and there is no God, to find that out you have to be dead. If you're wrong, and there is a God, you're spending eternity in hell.

Feb. 1, 2007, 5:52 p.m.I think there is a fine distinction to be made here between god and religion. Religion is an organized group of people who all have the same view of god. Usually they decry every other view of god. Christian, Muslim, Bhuddist, Shinto, Jewish, you name it. God, however is something different and not found in any church or so-called sacred writings.
The beauty of love, blooming flowers, budding trees, rain, sunset, you name it. The life force that makes things tick. To me that is god. I do not need a church or a congregation to appreciate this life force. I need only step outside and tend to my animals and my vegetable patch and am aware of the life force, or god, if you will.
To me, religion is a means for people to impose their will on others, to make up useless rules and to denigrate others for not believing the right way, the way they believe.
I believe in that life force but wouldn't give you a plug nickel for any religion on the face of this earth.

Feb. 1, 2007, 5:56 p.m.At the end of the day, one side is going to right about God and one side is going to be wrong. There is no middle ground.
Choose wisely grasshopper.

Feb. 1, 2007, 6:04 p.m.I find it very ironic that the Rational Response Squad has a radio show where they "preach" atheism.
If you remove God, you just replace him with something else. I tend to worship the real thing.

Feb. 1, 2007, 7:58 p.m.I am a Christian (wasn't always) and there is little I can say in this forum to change anyone's mind, but I do challenge this. Get a modern translation (NIV will work) of the Bible and strip away the miracles and the that which makes one require faith to accept. Just study that which deals with how you treat people and handle yourself and relationships ... do this with other religious texts as well. (I've done this with Muslim, Buddhist, Satanic and other texts in my search).
Tell me which one stands alone, which one is best to live by. Then apply the one that fits you and the way you want to be (not necessarily are, but what you wish you could be).
I've done this, the faith comes fairly easy after this point...it becomes obvious.
Back to the reference earlier, you've got one shot through this earthly life make the right one.

Feb. 2, 2007, 12:46 p.m.I believe that there is an equal amount of evidence for and against god, exactly none. There is only faith. If you see the world as something that could only exist with a god then you take that fact by faith. If you see the world as something that exists without god then you take that fact by faith as well. I've never seen any evidence presented for a god or against a god that couldn't be used for the other argument by a clever person.
I have no problem with God, whether he may exist or not. I have a problem with religion, a man made construction. To believe that one book, or one story, or one person, or one group is the authority and has the answers to questions that are beyond man is foolish at best and arrogant at worst. Religion uses its idea of what god is or isn't to dislike someone, or pity them, or exclude them.
To me, this is sad.

Feb. 2, 2007, 6:13 p.m.Why are you arguing? So some believe one thing and others believe another. Who cares? Does either's belief system truly affect the other? No!
So stop it already, you kids, or I will turn this car around and so help me...
Wait 'til your father gets here!
