Below-Zero Temps Hit Plains, Northeast »

Posted by: TechnologyExpert 2 years, 9 months ago

A bone-chilling Arctic cold wave with temperatures as low as 38 below zero shut down schools for thousands of youngsters Monday, halted some Amtrak service and put car batteries on the disabled list from the northern Plains across the Great Lakes. The cold was accompanied by snow that was measured in feet in parts of upstate New York.

Climate change, aka Global Warming, is a shift in the overall temperatures of the planet as opposed to just an overall increase. When some parts get warmer and cause polar melting, raised sea levels, and other phenomen the weather of regions becomes more extreme.

Basically warm up the wrong parts (polar regions) and the rest of the world climate changes.

I love the irony behind the fact some Americans hit such a low in their faith in American and European scientific accomplishments that they are citing Russian scientists as more credible sources.

It's not like there would ever be corruption in Russia. It's not like Russian economy depends on oil at all. For those who are not in the know, Putin happens to be one of the most staunch environmentalists in the world, that's why Russia sporadically cuts off oil to Europe so that Poland and other countries can practice being eco-friendly.

In the secret FSB (new KGB) meetings he personally declared that Russia conquered Chechnya so that it can turn it into green country that didn't have to rely on all the oil located there. And no Russia did not invade Chechnya, because of its oil. Russia has no interest in oil, only in the future of the planet's children.

Global cooling is already happening and actually keeps global warming in check. Now how damn frightening is that?

I'm sitting here at 8pm in a singlet and shorts, sipping COLD beer sweating like a stuck pig. I would gladly give you 10 degrees that would bring us down to around 20 celcious. This is the hottest this place has been in the 25 years I've lived here. On the up side, I've got a coffee plant growing well.

                If your wondering...New Zealand.

                It's definately extreme.

Impeaching political leaders will not have an effect on the world temperatures shifts. Regardless of who is in control of the American government the global climate will continue to change. The thing that needs to be done is planning for the results of the climate shift that will affect us all.

First the problem needs to be admitted and then dealt with.

Put a coat and gloves on and stop whining.

I've heard many variations that "global" warming will result in a secondary global cooling/ice age.

I don't think we're anywhere near seeing these effects, but the weather will get crazier and crazier as time goes on.

As for this midwest freeze, I don't think it's that extraordinary. There were deep freezes in the northern midwest decades ago, and probably before that too.

Think about it, we are pretty close to Canada. All it takes is for a jetstream to dip downward into the midwest and engulf us in sub zero temps.

Nothing special here....but it'll probably get more polarized as time and global warming march on.

Much of the USA gets some "normal" temps for this time of year & it becomes headline news?

Just how does this prove global warning again?

By the way, they still can not grow the grapes in England that were grown during the Roman times? Too COLD!

That implies we are still in a global cooling cycle!

                                  Interesting!

The whole idea of global warming is the best thing that ever happened to the shareholders of the mainstream media.

Funny yesterday I found my old diary that I kept in 1973 and on a day in February I wrote that the high was 0 and the low was -25. Today's high is 6 and low -5 where I am at in Michigan. As cold as it is now I still don't think the winters are as cold as they used to be when I was growing up.

I enjoyed listening to Rush today. He wants the scientists to be able to tell him precisely what the temperature will be in a year, in ten years, etc. This from a guy who thinks it's unreasonable to have our president give a rough timetable to end a war, within say, a year or two.

Rush doesn't understand that by having the scientists give out that amount of detail, he would embolden Mother Nature.

It's a grand day here on the Coast of Southern California. Sun is streamin' through the window. There's Santa Catalina Island out there. Butt, y'know, I just don't feel right about it since some folks from the North lectured me in a kinda nasal whine; "Yeah, but you just don't get those four seasons."
