Feb. 5, 2007, 10:25 p.m.The "activists" prolonged the Vietnam War by some seven years, costing many thousands of lives. Apparently they have learned nothing, as they are also prolonging the current conflict. And now we have Jihad Jane at it again, and just as ignorant as ever.

Feb. 6, 2007, 1:06 a.m.Using the Blitzgreig method of attack causes many problems.
The quick rush of troops to cover mass amounts of real estate only works when there are enough troops to fill in behind the advancing troops. The Germans found that out in WW2. The Americans found it out in WW2, so did the Japanese in WW2.
Lightning advances, do cut off and effectively eliminate opposition quickly, but it also leaves behind pockets of the enemy that can cause havock in the rear.
Bush's new tactics call for surrounding and isolating individual areas so that they can be effectively disarmed.
They should have begun this over a year ago.
They allowed the pockets to fill back in behind them, and join forces with other pockets.
Current military commanders didn't learn this lesson from Vietnam. You can't jump from location to location and allow the enemy to fill back in behind you. You Must take a location, clean it out, and keep it.
