Feb. 8, 2007, 8:38 a.m."Pathetic that the despicable idiot sitting in WH wants to pour more taxpayer money in to this civil war he started. Worst, he wants to do it at the expense of Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security"
Bravo,kserkhar you said it--Amen.

Feb. 9, 2007, 11:39 a.m.It appears that many of you are rejoicing in the killing of American soldiers, and that you openly hope that WE lose this war.
How sick and wrong is that? Were republicans hoping that FDR would lose the fight against Germany? Critical of tactics, yes, but never hoping that we would lose. You hope that we lose?!?! It appears that many rejoice in the death of US soldiers, airmen and marines. This is a world war and we are at the beginning stages of it. This is not a campaign slogan and we aren't battling over the 'lock box' of social security. We are fighting for our culture. Personally, I don't want my girlfriend hidden behind a burka. Maybe that would be the only way you could look at yours...but that's beside the point.

Feb. 7, 2007, 9:40 a.m.The worst Iraq gets is the better for Bush to attack Iran another enemy of Israel. Now Iran is the blame for Iraq's atrocities. According to the leader of Israel 'Iraq war was good for Israel'. The problem is Israel has many enemies on that region and many friends in WH. how many more wars is needed to make Israel secured from her enemy?

Feb. 7, 2007, 9:49 a.m.This is a big one. A lot of our kids died in this one, but at least we got Saddam's weapons of mass destruction, so that makes it all okay!

Feb. 7, 2007, 10:23 a.m.Bush is looking for more troops and more money to put an end to the war he and his thugs started, may be he needs some more time to sort out matters, he is the world police man, he will never cut and run.

Feb. 8, 2007, 3:08 a.m.Please, please, please read some actual history. The no-fly zone was to protect the Kurds in the North and supress Saddam's massacres in the South of Iraq. As Iraq invaded Kuwait, as terms for the cease-fire, the US and other forces enforced the terms of the cease-fire that ended major hostilities in 1991.
Saddam had the world's 6th largest army (until we knocked him down a few notches) and had invaded Iran, attacked Israel, invaded and occupied Kuwait and invaded Saudi Arabia. There had been quite a bit of sand kicked up between Iraq and Jordan, syria..., as well.
I realize many believe that we should just let festering wounds fester and puss, but all that will do is cause gangrene, which requires amputation...if not amputed, the body dies. We need to clean out Iraq. Easy? no. cheap? no.

Feb. 7, 2007, 11:20 a.m.Sure seems like somebody has armed the insurgents with a better class of shoulder fired missiles in the past few weeks. It is tempting to blame Iran. They certainly have such technology. But the shoot-downs are almost all over Sunni areas. Maybe Syria. Maybe one of the "US Friendly" Sunni Arab neighbors like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan or Egypt? And if so, it's likely we're getting shoot down with weapons we supplied them. It certainly wouldn't be the first time our own weapons were turned against us. When the Shah was there, we sold Iran their fleet of F14s. When the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini came to power< Iran became the enemy and we armed Saddam, including giving him WMD technology to prevent the Iranians from overrunning Iraq in the war he started with them.
Anyway, I hope we can soon figure out who and what so we can develop a strategy to keep our guys safe from this new threat.

Feb. 7, 2007, 11:57 a.m.It is also possible that as the U.S. gets better at detecting and avoiding IEDs, anti-U.S. forces (of various stripes) are concentrating more on anti-air fire. There is also a steep learning curve - it's hard to bring down a flying target even with automatic weapons. Iraqi's may also be more comfortable trying to down aircraft if they are holding more territory to hide in. This was apparently a CH-46 Sea Knight, one of two workhorse personnel transport helocopter types for the Marine Corps. Sadly, that probably means many casualties.

Feb. 7, 2007, 1:53 p.m.George Bush is a murdering war criminal who lies to the people he swore before god to serve.
He deserves every last bit of humilation from his failed presidency and life.
I hope that I live to see him swing from a rope.

Feb. 7, 2007, 3:07 p.m.My guess is it the work those damn Zionists. They are the source of all evil acts in the Middle East( really the whole World) and some of you (us) Americans are too naive to understand this, until it too late!. Now, go blame other countries in the region. You know, we must have a nemesis so we can justify our illegal and immoral terroristic actions in the world. Think for a second please!

Feb. 7, 2007, 3:22 p.m.Their mission will be to help Iraqi security forces clear, control and retain key areas of Baghdad to reduce violence and to set the conditions for a transition to full Iraqi control of security in the city, the military said.

Feb. 7, 2007, 4:03 p.m.What a tragic waste. The GWB administration is wearing down our military and crippling our capacity to respond anywhere else in the world by pursuing a totally optional war.
Invading Iraq had nothing to do with protecting the United States' legitimate interests in the world. Then we handed radical Islam a live fire exercise with our soldiers as targets and a recruiting opportunity for which they'd have paid billions. Instead we're paying billions to advance their cause.
I don't understand how anyone can believe that threats of force will work against people whose cosmic view regards martyrdom as the perfect way out of the world. You can't threaten such people; you can only undercut their support by removing the causes that allow them to recruit new adherents. The president has painted us into a corner but won't consider the radical break needed to put the battle on ground where we can eventually win.
He has no plan; he has a prayer.

Feb. 7, 2007, 5:52 p.m.Those guerillas are getting pretty skilfull at downing the choppers. It is like 50 choppers or so shot since the start of war! This reminds me kind of Afghanistan for the Soviets. I hope US will not drag this war for 9 years like Soviets did... What a waste of good people's lives.

Feb. 7, 2007, 6:10 p.m.Spetsnaz, Yes, "What a waste of good people's lives:"
Baghdad Kens and Baghdad Barbies,
blasted to smithereens as teens:
Their children cared and wailed
quiet cries, longed in loneliness,
to play, and went silently to bed,
sobbing in their pillows: "Mom."
They dreamed of putting humpty-
dumpties back together again: "Dad."
But all the parts had not returned,
and some so charred and torn, their
heads confused, the children called
for help from any adults near.
Adults cared, but kids couldn't hear
any words of hope or consolation.
No one knew a way to make whole
what was being broken faster than
all the children's cries could fix.
What could be fixed?...or stopped?
What could be stopped from temper
tantrums stomping on the floor for
more to suffer penance more for not
stopping yet an AntiChrist posing
as a President, sacrificing Baghdad
Kens and Barbies and their babies?

Feb. 7, 2007, 7:31 p.m.I heard a good saying today about all you left-wing liberals. which goes: "It's not that they are ignorant because they don't know anything, It's just that what they do know is all wrong."
From what I read in the articles and posts on this left-wing Netscape forum, That is definately a true statement.

Feb. 7, 2007, 8:51 p.m.I read this claptrap and I re-read it to make sure that I have read what has been said correctly, and I say that for the most part you people are pusillanimous craven cowards that do not deserve to live in the same country that the brave men and women of our military call home. You mongrel dogs, you worthless curs deserve not the right to breath the air of free men, because others have fought and dies for that air and it is clear that you would never debase yourself by defending freedom with anything stronger then your wise cracking hate filled mouths. There are those who ask why conservatives do not wish to engage in blogs, well it is quite simple really. If one lies with the dogs one is inclined to get fleas.
