Feb. 8, 2007, 2:32 p.m.An interesting socio-economic study, at least. I just finished reading Freakonomics, there was a similar situation cited in the book, where a guy delivered bagels to office buildings, employees paid (or didn't pay) on the honor system. I'd be interested to see if the success of Tera Bites paralells the bagel guy's outcome.

Feb. 8, 2007, 3:10 p.m.The idea can work in certain circumstances very well. Usually the smaller, or to be more precise personal, the venue the greater the venture.
When I used to odd job with small contractors my line was well let's get the job done, and then pay me what you think I earned. I often recieved more than I would have if I stated a price out right. And in the one case that the money started to lessen, I'd just be too busy, no hard feelings that way.
