Posted by: Bkumm 2 years, 10 months agoWASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not request a larger plane for personal use to travel cross-country without stopping, Bill Livingood, the House sergeant at arms, said Thursday. Livingood said the request was his, and he made it for security reasons.

Feb. 9, 2007, 2:22 p.m.More garbage from some people just looking for an excuse to go after the first woman to be the Speaker of the House.
There are lies, damned lies and fabrications. This is just more junk from people who are looking to hurt the Democrats.

Feb. 9, 2007, 2:34 p.m.Not too patriotic of those lawmakers who seek to disparage and interrupt the business of running our nation by undermining their partisan enemies. Career politicans care more about their futures in Congress, than they do about the welfare of our people and our nation.

Feb. 9, 2007, 3:54 p.m.I predict that this smear tactic will come back and bite the Republicans in the butt. When Murtha starts hearings on Congressional and White House use of Military Planes over the last 2 years.

Feb. 9, 2007, 4:05 p.m.It was apparently ok for Hastert to fly home every weekend via a military plane (regardless of size) - that expenditure of taxpayer money was NEVER questioned.
Between the overblown smear and the Astronaut soap opera, its a wonder we get any real news at all.

Feb. 9, 2007, 4:33 p.m.For all those who blamed Nancy Pelosi for ordering large military planes for trips home,
Eat this news! Chew it real good, otherwise it will get caught in your "sun never shines" area causing severe abdominal and an*l pains!
And then stand up and say "I am sorry for wrongfully accusing you. Please accept my apologies. I will never do it again!".
Because then, and only then, you will be truly forgiven for your sins!
I feel bad for your constituents. I hope they do not suffer because of your shameful acts!
Peace and Blessings for the rest of us!

Feb. 10, 2007, 5:03 a.m."The fact that Speaker Pelosi lives in California compelled me to request an aircraft that is capable of making non-stop flights for security purposes, unless such an aircraft is unavailable," Livingood, who has been at his post for 11 years, said in a written statement.
Apparently Livingood has a hard time with geography or reading aircraft specifications.
The current plane for the speaker is a C-20H (Gulfstream IV)
Range: C-20B, 4,250 miles (3,698 nautical miles) long-range; C-20H, 4,850 miles (4,220 nautical miles) long range
Speed: 576 mph (501 nautical miles per hour) maximum
Ceiling: 45,000 feet (13,716 meters)
The C-20 has a range without refueling of 4850 miles
The distance from Andrews AFB to SFO (San Francisco) is 2500 miles. This means the C-20 will still have 2350 miles worth fuel after flying between SFO and Andrews AFB.
Is there anybody in DC that can handle simple math?
Or does this answerer a whole lot questions about DC?

Feb. 10, 2007, 10:20 a.m."The Times article, headlined "Pelosi's Power Trip -- Non-stop Nancy Seeks Flight of Fancy," led the Republican National Committee to send out a research briefing and blast Pelosi on the House floor."
Wonder if any of these members of the Republican National Committee will get back on the House floor and apologize to Pelosi for their mistake or the Times will write a retraction for the stories error? Probably not because they don't want to be seen in public with so much egg on their faces. LMAO

Feb. 10, 2007, 10:29 a.m.I don't care what kind of plane the DOD gives Pelosi for joy-riding and junkets, as long as it isn't a Bomber! There are way too many juicy targets of opportunity along the flight path to The People's Republic of California to let her get her finger on the button!

Feb. 10, 2007, 12:59 p.m.Face it,this is a typical Republican smear job that is meant to distract from the fact that they are obstructing debate on Iraq, that they lied this country into war ("Look at Pelosi's plane - forget Scooter's trial!!!"), that they are trying to lie this country into a war with Iran, that they aided and abetted the defrauding of this country's treasury through corrupt government contracts and an abondonment of their oversight responsibilities.
These right-wingers are shameless. Fortunately, we are officially at the point where every little dirty trick - rather than being a minor victory - is actually another nail in the coffin of the GOP.
America now knows what deceitful, unprincipled war mongers you are. And they rejected you last November and will reject you again in '08.

Feb. 10, 2007, 12:33 p.m.Instead of insulting Pelosi, these jerkwads in Congress should be paying attention to the people's business. Getting us out of Iraq, NOT getting us into Iran, addressing global warming and broken borders.
But NO. All of them, Republicans and Democrats alike, are busy stuffing their campaign coffers for the next run. Their real focus is to get re-elected.
While they're at it, they should be busy impeaching the president and vice-president. That should keep them busy for a while. And when their done with that, they can start impeaching each other.
In the meantime, every jerkwad who insulted Pelosi from the floor owes her an apology. How many do you think will have the spine to apologize from the very same spot on which they insulted her.
Make me queen and I tell ya, heads would roll!

Feb. 10, 2007, 12:47 p.m.Its funny that she is requesting a plane at all, I mean it is the dems complaining about "global Warming" but yet i do not see any of them doing anything but adding to the Problem, I mean if they were REALLY Worried about the Global Warming problem shouldnt they be finding other ways to get to where they want to go without jumping on a plane and burning jetfuel cause i think Jetfuel is worse for the Earth then car exhaust, But then again we are talking about the dems and they will Complain about things but wont do anything to fix the problem, because in order to fix the problem you have to be willing to work with EVERYONE and we all know that none of the dems are willing to work with the Repubs to fix things, Because Then they would not be able to take soul credit if things where to get better.

Feb. 10, 2007, 3:22 p.m.can not blame clinton. it is a governing affair of the house not the administrative branch. that argument being put forth must reach elsewhere to prove whatever point is attempting to be proven. silly assumptions about neocons desiring monarchy. what are some substantive points?

Feb. 10, 2007, 1:33 p.m.I like the way the guy stepped up to straighten out a misconception perpetrated by the press. Shows real strength of character. I'm neither con or lib by some of the definitions I've seen on this site. So far, I've been pleasantly surprised by Nancy. So why don't some of you just relax and let the woman work.

Feb. 10, 2007, 2:18 p.m.Still think that she was caught. It is beneficial for America to have Democrats and Republicans watching each other, thats what our forefathers wanted.
There are numerous stories out there on both sides, thousands of dollars in the frig, Dem., millions stolen by a California Reb. Repb., the list goes on and on and you all know it. They are all subject to corruption the minute their first step arrives in D.C.
So far the Democrats have not accomplished alot in Washington and I see no end to this evil, aggessive and wrong war, yet the rhetoric and only rhetoric, (No Action) is prvailing still. I know you Liberals will say she just began he term but facts are facts they are cowards in not calling for an immediate withdrawal. Let the Republicans then be responsible for the continued deaths.
OK. back on track. If you realy feel Pelosi does not desire the high life style I'm going to repeat what I said yesterday, I have a tropical in the Antartic for sale to you, reasonable.

Feb. 10, 2007, 2:20 p.m.I don't mind if she gets the bigger plane ... just don't claim the other one can't make it all the way.
At least be honest about why you want it.
