Girl, 8, nabbed after making 135 prank 911 calls »

Posted by: moemebe 2 years, 9 months ago

SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Police dispatchers are no dummies. They know, for instance, that when they take a call from a little girl, giggling, who says "a doughnut just hit a car," it's a joke. Not really funny unless you're 8, but humor is subjective. Less funny is when the calls are chillingly specific: "There's been an accident...

Why didn't they just go to the phone company with a search warrent and find who had the phone number? It seems to me that this would have been a much easier and more financially responsible method of finding this kid!

I would make her sit in a corner for an hour a day for 135 days holding that phone in the air! And then I would smack her!!

I do not blame the parants on this. They could of given her this because of recent crimes in the area. We as adults know the severity of this childs prank. This girl needs a hard punishment. This is how children learn. If we blame the parants in this case, she will not learn anything. Hopefully her parants are reading this beacuse I would smack her. If child pretective services come, hand them her suitcase!

If she was really smart, she would have used a payphone.

Ok, some adults know the severity of this childs prank.

I am sure when the parents gave her this cell phone they intended it to be for safty reasons. If you do not know, kids will sometime in their life pull a stupid and dangerous stunt. This girl was caught while on the phone with the 911 operator. When she new she was caught she ran and hid. That shows me she knows she is in trouble. If she would have had bad parants that incouraged bad behavior she would of just stood their. Her parents should not be nabbed as well. Not every child makes the right decision, they learn threw mistakes. I hope she learns a long lesson!

Where are the fricking parents? Way too many people in this world don't have a clue as to being a parent. They don't know what their kids are doing and most often don't even care. The parents can also be held responsible for the intentional acts of their kid.

I cannot believe that this girl had so much free time as to call the police unnoticed by her parents...its terrable and this girl needs a LONG talking to.

Kids can do stupid stuffs when they r 8... Perhaps this kid doesn't know that it's dangerous to give prank calls... & also perhaps her own parents never had the thought of telling her to NOT to make prank calls when they gave her the phone....

If she doesn't know the damage that she's done, I wouldn't recommend caning her... Maybe juz a lil bit tho...

But most of all, she MUSt be told that what she did (wif her friends) is REALLY BAD!! I hope she learned her lesson...

Kids are creating bogus websites of teachers and people they do not like. They also create bogus requests like seeking under 12s for rendevous.

I know a 13 year old who had her dad arrested for sexual abuse just because he wouldn't let her date.

A lot of kids can do bad things that ruin people's lives.

Most kids hit the age of reasoning around 5 years old. And not only that we're talking about the 21st Century here where the kids are light years ahead of kids 10, 20, 30, and 40 years ago were. A lot of 8 year olds are building websites. She knew exactly what she was doing and what is disturbing is that she was so specific! I think she's a Sociopath maybe not quite "Mary Bell" but who knows how far she would have took it for the excitement. According to the U.S. Department of Justice statistics for 1996 [1], one in five murders of children are committed by other children.

The parents should face criminal prosecution, not for the 911 calls, but for ignoring the criminal action of the child. Just as when a parent gives a child access to a gun. The parent is not convicted for the shooting, but for their careless disregard.

I can't even imagine being so clueless as to not know what your child is doing in your own home.
