article said it could last up to a week...so not so much cure as treatment.

A treatment is a treatment. But at least it helps those that need it the most. If it quicker then by all means give it to those that need it and stop worrying about if they are taking illegal drugs to get them to calm down. It only tell you that the drugs they were given by their doctors weren't doing the trick.

yes, does sound more like a treatment; but if it works it gives docs another tool to help their patients- and thats always a good thing

Ketamine is the drug that is used to put cats under while they are having surgery.

I don't trust the validity of this article.
As tobeybarnes points out, ketamine is a cat tranquilizer, not a horse tranquilizer... that's PCP.
Also, on the street, ketamine is just called "K", while "Special K" is a mix of cocaine and ketamine.
