Dixie Chicks sweep Grammy Awards »
Posted by: TechnologyExpert 2 years, 8 months agoFrom the article: "The Dixie Chicks completed a defiant comeback on Sunday night, winning five Grammy awards after being shunned by the country music establishment over the group’s anti-Bush comments leading up to the Iraq invasion. The Texas trio won record and song of the year for the no-regrets anthem 'Not Ready to Make Nice.' They also won best country album, which was especially ironic considering that the group says they don’t consider themselves country artists anymore."

Feb. 12, 2007, 8:33 a.m.Yet more evidence that they are being "shunned and censored" by the industry after their comments.
Pathetic.

Feb. 13, 2007, 3:51 p.m.Blue Cheer had a hit in the late sixties. Those really long haired loud rockers openly supported the Vietnam war. They never amounted to anything, even with their top ten hit.
There was a time supporting the goverment was not a good idea in music.

Feb. 12, 2007, 7:33 a.m.It's ironic that three women have taken the coveted 'bad boy" mantle in country music. In a genre that has become a haven for male artists who can't really rock yet desperately pretend to, the Dixie Chicks should be welcomed with open arms.
To all the Nashville wankers.... dated rock star poses, leather pants and crumpled straw hats will never cut it guys.
(Unless of course you're stuck with minivan moms as an audience.)

Feb. 12, 2007, 7:42 a.m.It still will not help them with Country Fans not buyiny their music and pressuring stations not to play them.

Feb. 12, 2007, 7:42 a.m.Think they should form a new band with Bill Clinton on sax, Sean Penn on drums, Hanoi Jane lead vocals and Monica Lewinski blowing a trumpet....speaking of love fests.

Feb. 12, 2007, 7:48 a.m.YES! YES! YES!
i am NOT a country music fan, but i AM a Dixie Chicks fan! thankfully there ARE people from Texas who see Duh-bya for what he is, and more importantly are NOT afraid to call them as they see them. even thought it cost them alot in record sales, they stuck to their guns.
only question now is, will all those country artists who did self-serving (lets sell some records off a tragedy) "support the troops" songs jump on the antiwar bandwagon? if any artists really "supports the troops" lets see them donate the proceeds from these songs to families of dead or wounded soldiers.
GO CHICKS!

Feb. 12, 2007, 7:59 a.m.this is why nobody with half a brain cares about these awards anymore--they arent given for talent or achievment but mostly to whoever can be the loudest, crudest anti-american or anti-semite--similar to the joke the nobel has become--jimbo comes to mind

Feb. 12, 2007, 8:12 a.m.Congrats to the chicks, they not only can sing well, they know the truth and are not afraid to speak it. America has embraced them again and I'm sure the pain they and their families went thru is now worth it. Bravo gals!

Feb. 12, 2007, 8:27 a.m.oohhh, so YOU can say "peace" but they cant? they are american citizens also, and as such, are FREE to express their opinion. just like other performers who support Shotgun Dicky and the trained chimp in the white house can express theirs.
geez, this is ONE song, remember the 60's and 70's, HUNDREDS of anti war songs were done by artists of all genres. each has the right to express their opinion

Feb. 12, 2007, 8:31 a.m.as Fabienne explained it was MSNBC that changed the headline, NOT Netscape. lok at the story on msnbc, they set the headline ... plus they won more awards than ANYBODY.

Good to see you back on this site and I see that your opinion hasn't changed. I also see that the cons are out to give negative votes to anyone that says anything nice about the Chicks. So I fail to see where this site is biased. All I see is the same strong opinionated post made by the same strong opinionated people although some have taken on new names to conceal their identity. LMAO

Feb. 12, 2007, 8:28 a.m.I don't put much stock in the Grammy's. It's not a true consensus of each genre. People in country music don't even buy the Dixie Chicks albums anymore since Natalie big mouth panned the genre that got her where she is today. We couldn't care less about what they sing and for them to win best country album is ridiculous. REAL country music fans can't stand them or their music. They don't even attend the country music awards, and if they did they wouldn't be invited to sing. Thank God!

Feb. 12, 2007, 8:28 a.m.clkbeus99 - I don't believe they were handing out advice, just exercising their Constitutional right of free speech. Our rights include listening or not. No more, no less.

Feb. 12, 2007, 8:36 a.m.I can't disagree w/their talent. It's good and strong. But the average country music fan is a conservative and favors Bush. And for them to say this is like getting bitch slapped. U would think, even as a blonde, Natalie Maines would know this. I'm still not impressed w/their lower than normal IQ's.
