    Along with these budget cuts for Vets, many other cuts are being made, coupled with tax increases on items (like energy tax breaks on student loans, home/cars,etc.) that time will run out if extentions are not passed in the new budget. (according to the q & a with the sec. of treasury in a committee meeting last friday on CSPAN) Wish the American people could read the entire budget that is being reviewed.

    This is a disgrace to the Vets. who are fighting & have fought for our freedom. This is not the America, I grew up knowing.

    Maybe Bush & All government employees need to take cuts in pay & benefits, to balance the budget by 2012? (not our vets.!)

        The budget will NOT be balanced in five year, probably not in FIFTY after what Bush and the Republicans have done to it.

        Here is an excellent article that shows all of the holes and fallacies in Bush's so-called 'balanced budget' proposal.

          And it is not just the cuts to the veterans budget that is so appalling and SO shamelessly hypocritical about the Bush administration.

          Thousands of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are HOMELESS. Thousands more are going through divorce and bankruptcy. Thousands more are suffering from PTSD and CANNOT get any treatment for it.

          This is how the administration REALLY "supports the troops".

            This shows the true face of the supposed military supporting republicans. They(most not all)only support sending other peoples children in harms way. They play on the fears of most people to get votes. Don't be afraid of the loss of family values, they won't go away. Don't be afraid of the terrorist, we will defeat them without lowering ourselves to their level. Don't be afraid of immigrants, we should convince all the North American hispanic countries to and including Pamana to become states. That would make for a much smaller southern border to protect, it would also bring them under our OSHA/EPA protections so big companies can't outsource jobs and dump polution in someone else's yard...My 2 cents..

                It's more bi-polar republicanism and orwellian double-speak.

                Supporting the troops = cutting their benefits and stop loss measures

                Freedom = slavery

                Civil liberties = NSA spying on americans

                Ownership = no safety net

                Health care reform = taxing benefits

                War = peace
