Indonesia issues tsunami warning after quake »
Posted by: Aidenag 2 years, 9 months agoA powerful earthquake in northeastern Indonesia triggered a tsunami warning Tuesday and caused panicked residents to flee shaking buildings, officials and media reports said. The U.S. Geological Survey initially put the temblor's magnitude at 6.9, but later revised it to 6.5.

Feb. 20, 2007, 4:55 a.m.After the terrible tsunamis of recent years, the Indonesian Government should have done a good job warning coastal residents across this vast archipelago of the need to head inland once an undersea earth tremor is recorded in the vicinity.
Despite the huge potential destruction of property and infrastructure from these waves, human lives can be saved by prompt evacuation of residents from coastal settlements.
PS Okitech, distinguished or senior Indonesians in many fields of endeavor often use only a single name.
