Fallen Heroes: The Return to Civilian Disability »
Posted by: populist 2 years, 9 months agoOne in three homeless Americans are military vets, and that figure is compounding. One in four vets with PTSD who sought medical care from the VA, regularly experienced a two to three month wait just to see a doctor as the ratio of doctors to patients is one doctor for every 500 patients. Over 53,000 soldiers are permanently wounded...

Feb. 22, 2007, 7:24 p.m."One in three homeless Americans are military vets"
Really? Amazing to know considering....
"According to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, nearly 200,000 American veterans are homeless on any given night, and over 400 of those homeless veterans served in Iraq."
Military.com
An with there being well over 3.5million homeless at any given time in the USA. (2006 Census) Your numbers are WAY off. 1 in 3? so 333,333 for one million? There isn't even that many homeless vets. Theres 200,000. An there isn't 1million homeless theres at LEAST 3.5million at any given time. Which means your numbers 1 in 3 are off.
Like I tell you in pretty much every story you post from this populist site which has yet to provide any FACTS. Although you seem so intent on saying they are.
Yet some more inaccuracies you're pushing as truth. Pretty sad you can't even do simple math. Yet claim to be all knowing.

Feb. 22, 2007, 7:32 p.m.FACTS say so. Some thing you ignore constantly. This site is pitiful. I'm going to make sure its blacklisted from sites I use. Its inaccurate and shows no signs of fixing the proven errors.
An YOU retyped it. Next time LOOK INTO THE STORIES. Like I told you a million times already.

Feb. 22, 2007, 8:35 p.m.I see what the article says. I showed you its wrong. What else do you want. The article says there is 200,000 on any given night. Theres 3.5 million homeless on any given night.
Do the math! Stop debating what cant be debated. Fats are facts. You can find stories saying the skies blue from "legitimate sources". That mean you take is as scripture? NO!
Also, the article is basing that on 1999 stats. READDDDDD ONCE AGAIN!
Geez. U need every thing spelled out.

Feb. 23, 2007, 8:50 a.m.this is just typical government run healthcare--its what you have to look foward to with hillarycare or other socialist based systens--anyone who has had to deal with ssi disability ..as i have..doesnt find a 3 month wait for ANYTHING is not unusual--i agree that vets should go to the head of the line--and maybe they already do--but its just the nature of a huge govt beaurocracy--they work much like big insurance companies do--deny everything to start and a lot of your work..claims..give up...go away..die--it took me almost 4 years to get through the system--but i was patient and responsible--stuck with it--and came out of the long dark tunnel--but im also not addicted to drugs or booze--we all make choices with our lives

Feb. 23, 2007, 9:54 a.m.If the political Left would look deeply into their beliefs, they would probably be able to see that their policies of Government giveaways and entitlements, especially to those that are here ILLEGALLY, is taking much needed $$$ from the operating budgets of other departments. The V.A. would love to be able to provide whatever help is needed to every veteran, but they simply cannot afford to do it. Yet , if you are an illeagal alien, you simply walk into any E.R. and get all the free healthcare you need, or go any college at In-State tuition costs.. or now in Calif. receive unemployment checks because there are no crops to pick, due to the freeze we had! Polocies need to be thought all the way thru, and not have that thought process stop at the "feel good" part.

Feb. 23, 2007, 10:58 a.m.I would love to see a full independent audit of Veterans affairs. Perhaps it would be best to give vets private medical coverage...like give them a blue cross card so they can go anywhere for care. I've a hunch it wouldn't cost any more than feeding a bureaucracy that doesn't work.
Yesterday I heard about an 80 year old vet that has to drive for 8 hours to his nearest veterans facility. That's unacceptable. A woman in WA state has contacted the governor to suggest that all WA state guardsmen who are injured be brought home, and given medical care at one of our hospitals. The University of WA medical center is world renowned, & their care would be the best, not to mention being near their families. Maybe all states should do the same.

Feb. 23, 2007, 11:05 a.m.I agree with JohnQPublic. And for the upset eshh and aniokly is appears you two have not served or delt with the VA. Yeah it is hard to get in so much red tape to go through. AA NA sure get there if you are under the effects of war. PTSD does not give you the choice of deciding I need help. It sneaks up on you and drags you down. VA's need money they are as much a part of war as the wars is. Eshh is good with numbers and geting fired up. Give me numbers of wounded and disabled vet from this new war. Compare them to Viet Nam.

Feb. 23, 2007, 12:03 p.m.LOL!!! Point out some thing inaccurate and it doesn't matter. Comical. 3.5MILLION divided by 200,000.... Thats the first sentance in this. And its misleading. Yet it doesn't matter. Why? Because its against the Iraq war. Which this article is attempting to say we dont do enough to help them. Yet, you can go through jobs such as car salesmen and find a higher homeless rate. Look it up. Its because some people CANT handle war. Others can't handle not being at war, and some just end up being druggies or drunks. Thats what happens when some people come back. It has nothing to do with being just troops. People go homeless. This articles making it seem like if your a troop, you have nothing to come back to. Its sad.
You people are such morons its sad. Can't even manage simple math.
lol@ Reading comprehension. I could follow you in to every article that says some thing good about Iraq and point out your useless ramblings as I have done with many of you before.

Feb. 23, 2007, 12:17 p.m.I just find it hilarious that the GOP accuses the Democrats of "cutting and running" and of wanting to defund the troops, etc. when they are the first ones to skimp and cut corners when it comes to taking care of these people. It's priceless, really.

Feb. 23, 2007, 1:25 p.m.When we returned from Viet Nam much of the populace blamed the individual military man/woman for the war. This angry populace consisted of a large number of "men" who feared that they might someday have to serve in the military. A scientific survey done by "Woman's Home Companion Magazine" found that of the large number of angry "men" who feared that they might someday have to serve in the military 2% were against war for moral reasons and 98% were cowards only Masquerading as pacifists.

Feb. 23, 2007, 3:37 p.m.It is shameful if even 1 (ONE) vet is homeless because we have not provided the safety net for returning troops. Those with injuries both seen and unseen. It is shameful that some of the families of the troops overseas are on welfare and food stamps. It is shameful that the current administration is cutting the budget while escalating the number of troops.
And it is also shameful that some people come on to this story nitpicking and screaming about how these troops made choices.
These troops were lied into a wrongheaded war. They have seen things that will give them nightmares for the rest of their lives. They have lost limbs, sanity and peace of mind.
And shamefully, eshh, you want to nitpick about numbers. Cut off one of your arms and see how well you can count on your fingers!

Feb. 25, 2007, 5:47 p.m.I guess I really don't understand why any of these people or their families would vote Republican given the GOP's history of shortchanging vets on their benefits. Any of you Republicans out there have any theories about this?
