Virginia slavery apology advances »

Meeting on the grounds of the former Confederate Capitol, the Virginia House of Delegates voted unanimously Saturday to express "profound regret" for the state's role in slavery.

    Curious article. I ask, "How sorry is Virginia?"

    Perhaps, Virginia is sorry enough to pay restitution(s) to former slaves' descendants? Is it just a hallow gesture for political favoritism in future? Or just an action to be "first" among all the "former" slave states to apologize for their participation in the institution of slavery and the gain(s) thereof.

    All this means absolutely nothing if the attitudes of racism and bigotry still exists, like in Frank D. Hargrove's comment.
