Feb. 25, 2007, 4:12 p.m.FTA: "The performance reviews show that they were routinely praised for playing a leadership role with other law enforcement agencies in their jurisdictions."
I really wish the damn cable news networks would turn their attention away from @$#$^ing Anna Nicole and Britney just for one day, to pay attention to this story. Every single one of these attorneys was working on corruption cases, and as soon as the Congress switched from a Republican to a Democratic majority, they were suddenly fired. We're supposed to believe this was a coincidence?
The Right Wing noise machine is working overtime on character assassinations of these people, but it's all smoke and mirrors. There's something truly rotten going on, and most people don't even know about it, because our media is spending all its time tracking whether some pop star is in or out of rehab. It's disgusting.

Feb. 26, 2007, 7:16 a.m."On Saturday, Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, who has led a Congressional investigation into the dismissals and has been briefed on the evaluations, said the reports showed that new legislation was needed to keep the Justice Department from politically motivated firings."
Perhaps Schumer and others should be investigated for the recent politically motivated hirings and firings in the various senate committees.
"At first, most appeared willing to leave quietly with the understanding that they were presidential appointees who could be replaced at any time."
Oh, that's how it works.

Feb. 26, 2007, 8:35 a.m.I smell something here. This is a far bigger story than Anna Nicole or Britany's haircut. Sure, a lot of evaluations are puff pieces. Still, there should be some negative somewhere to indicate that these judges should be replaced.
I think the greater tie is to the corruption charges that would be appearing before them.

Feb. 26, 2007, 9:04 a.m.I think that just like in the working world there should be an exit evaluation that states clearly the reason for the dismissal.

Feb. 26, 2007, 9:49 a.m.So Der Fuehrer decided to replace qualified attorneys with his half retarded thugs? Just means more murderers and rapists will get off scott free.

What charges?
This is just the Democrats playing politics to keep the corruption "issue" alive.

Feb. 26, 2007, 12:18 p.m.The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the confidential nature of personnel information, said, "The reviews don't take into account whether the U.S. attorneys carried out departmental priorities."
namely not investigating high crimes and misdemeanors perpetrated by the executive branch.

Feb. 26, 2007, 1:01 p.m.The truth is the truth. These men had their careers ended by Bush so that he could put people in place who are friendly to him. There is no spinning that. There is no way to make it not true.

Feb. 26, 2007, 2:34 p.m.The scary thing is that the Bush admin has become so radicalized, so rogue-ish in its actions that now the Democrats are fighting to defend well-respected Republicans from it.
I wonder if the Republicans will remember this come November 2008.

Feb. 26, 2007, 2:59 p.m.You can bet everyone of them was terminated for sitting on their overly educated butts, failing to meet goals and a host of other valid reasons to earn a pink slip.
Charges of corruption against the Bush Administration when something like this comes up is so predictable. Fortunately, the group thinkers do not get many chances to run the world. Incompetence is easy to spot in the work place.

Feb. 26, 2007, 3:45 p.m.You think this is a right wing thing? What about when the Clinton administration fired ALL 93 U.S. Attorneys on March 23, 1993? On July 19, 1993, Clinton fired the FBI director. Most of this was to cover up Craig Livingstone, Filegate, etc. Not much was said then as the Clintons domineered federal law enforcement. But, everyone's now upset about 8 attorneys? 25% of which DIDN'T have a good rating? Talk about spin!
