Posted by: moemebe 2 years, 10 months agoWill the owners of Trampy, Bootsie, Feathers and Pepe please report to Paradise Pet Ranch and ... bring a shovel? After years of neglect, the long-standing pet cemetery on Purdy Lane is officially going under. Condos will be going up in the next year, and the owner would prefer they not be built on top of anyone's beloved pet.

March 2, 2007, 11:19 p.m.For goodness sakes. Dogs and cats are not humans. Why aren't people burying their dogs and cats in their own yards? Or donating their bodies to science. Are humans so incapable of experiencing the love of another human that they musy resort to loving a dog?

March 2, 2007, 11:27 p.m.Well, all the little pet souls have gone flying up to Heaven so I guess it's O.K.

March 3, 2007, 12:41 a.m.Hey "LABELDUDE", some of them was "bad pets" and their souls return to HUMAN BODY and that is not OK with me! If they don't fly to "heaven" let them stay under condominium, and that is OK for me.

March 3, 2007, 1:36 a.m.It may sound sick to some but we've buried pets in the garden or flowerbox. That way in death they are contributing to life. And when we look at the beautiful results they are that much more beautiful, to us anyway. It has also helped our children with the loss because they see a positive result come from the sorrow...

March 3, 2007, 6:07 a.m.moxxxxxxxxxx --- you are a very sick individual to compare people who love animals to people who are incapable of loving other people. [person who can't love = psychopath. perhaps that's you?] you can learn a lot about a person from the way they treat animals. who in the hell are you anyway? i hope you come back as a dog ... you're clearly a waste of flesh as a human.

March 3, 2007, 9:41 a.m.I love animals ....I really do, even the stupid dog I have that pees on anything white that I happen to put on the floor for more than 2 minutes. But really......how many generations of humans will be going to their pets grave????? It really seems like wasted space, although I really HATE the idea of condos taking over. My favorite place in Singer Island Florida was ripped apart just so they could have multi million dollar condos built in its place. They're tearing apart what makes these places special and unique...same thing with Key West. ugh
I love Dharma's post...thank you!

March 3, 2007, 10:29 a.m.what the heck is wrong with you people.... i consider a pet a family member! and when they die it is tragic and sad just as if a human family member were to die.... i totally agree with operativem.... loving pets is just as important as loving another human and if you don't have compassion for living things you are sick.... plus what is sad is that i have know some pets that are smarter and behave better than their owners so what does that say about the human race?!!!

March 3, 2007, 10:50 a.m.How did a few of you come up with the idea that just because you are an animal lover, you are not a human lover??? do I prefer my pet over most humans? YES! does that mean I do not care about all the humans that I prefer my pet to? NO. I love many humans, just as I love many pets. and as far as the humans I take responsibility for ( my children and spouse) AND animals I take responsibility for...I love them all. This story makes me sad for all the humans who suffer loss and cared enough to want their pets remains in a nice place. And maybe they have no back yard!?! or do not own property. I think to dig up a pet....I don't know, that sounds morbid. So before you bury a beloved pet...I guess there should be things people check on. A sad lesson learned.

March 3, 2007, 10:57 a.m.I've got cats, dogs, sheep, goats and chickens. We bury our animals here at home. When Poppy, our Great Pyrenees died, we buried her where she died, right next to the grave of Jack, her mate. Both graves are planted with daffodils next to the fence. If I didn't have the space for burial, I would have the animal cremated.
I love my animals, but I think a pet cemetery is just "out there." Yes, they are beings who become a part of your family. They know your routines, enjoy quality time with you, hang around while you're outdoors digging in the garden. But I would never buy a granite marker for a pet. I wouldn't pay for perpetual upkeep of their grave.
One of the joys of an animal is that they are just what they are and there is no pretense whatsoever. They do not whine for Gucci collars. So let them be what they are. Bury them, honor them, miss them. They would not want a marble marker. Jack would have pi$$ed on one and rightfully so.

March 3, 2007, 11:23 a.m.They should have buried Anna Nicole in a pet cemetery. She was SUCH an ugly dog. But no, they have to roll out the red carpet for a filthy wh*re like that.
