Max Baucus is one of corporate America's favorite Democrats. As chair of the Finance Committee, he counts among his supporters a Who's Who of bankers, oilmen, ranchers, pharmaceutical lobbyists and Wall Street executives. I hope the people of Montana will open their eyes and give this kiss-butt his walking papers. It seems that his biggest talent is gaining money for his own campaign coffers. The story points out once again that something has to be done about the influence of lobbyists on our government. Like maybe ban them altogether. Max Baucus is a pig feeding at the trough down on K Street.

Lobbyists are destroying the last remnants of fair representation that our government proclaims to provide its constituents. Whether Democrat or Republican, this corrupt system of influence must be abolished if we ever expect to restore some semblance of democracy to our system of government again.

        Sigh...

A government by Corporate America. Our freedom is becoming more of an illusion with each passing election. And I'm afraid that it will get worse before it gets better. We sold our souls to the company store.

We have sold our souls. Now the bill has come due. I am saddened for our country that we have allowed this type of politics to proliferate.

That's why I voted for Nader twice. Get a clean slate. Start over.

Our system is failing on a non-partisan basis, while some Americans try to blame democrats or republicans. On the other hand, I don't care if someone from the "Fruit-loops Party is elected, if they are willing to uphold their office and deny special interests its corrupting influence. We better get smart enough and stop playing Americans against Americans. I observe too many partisan fools blasting liberals or conservatives, when the real and most important issues, like this, go unattended.

"You liberals! You conservatives!" How moronic!

It is sad that some cannot show respect for their fellow Americans, right or left, who are just as concerned about their country as anyone.

Progressives and centrists, Liberals and conservatives are broad categories made up of individuals -- all of whom are supposedly Americans first. It would be wise to recover from your prejudices and resentments. It would make communication possible.

I am a proud liberal American; that does not mean every issue that I have an opinion on necessarily reflects that categorical description. For that reason it is best to communicate with individuals without pre-judging them.

You label all liberals the same; is that not bigotted?

I hardly think differing in opinion to another persons POLITICAL views rises to the label of bigot.

The word bigot is very inflamitory as to most people it refers to a persons intollerance of anothers racial or ethnic background.

"A person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion," is the definition of a bigot. It does not only refer to racial or ethnic background. It appears to me that you are intolerant of all liberals (belief and opinions thereof) and that fills the definition of bigotry.

At least I can be proud of being a liberal. Either you should learn to respect your fellow Americans who are liberal or learn to be proud of your bigotry towards them. The choice is yours.
