Alcohol doesn't help, but its the Cars that are the problem- do they ever test for Coffee in the bloodstream during accidents: stressed out commuters filled with a legal form of Speed make really bad decisions. This problem is one of transportation, not alcohol- there is no danger from riding a bus drunk (the bus usually stops running before the bars close) and not everyone can afford cabs, what should They do, sit at home and watch TV like a good Americans and slowly lose their minds from isolation and loneliness? I can Walk to a bar if I need to, but that's because I live in a City not a Suburb.

I think that a majority of drivers are lousy drivers anyway. It doesn't matter how much alcohol they drink.. they are still lousy drivers.

The cars have nothing to do with the issue. Until the legal system gets serious about drunk driving this problem wil continue to exist. If you are caught driving drunk, you go to jail. Plain and simple. This would eliminate a large number of drunk drivers. No plaea bargains, drunk while driving, jailtime! I am sick and tired of seeing people killed by drunk drivers and nothing is done but slap them on the wrist. You are choosing to get drunk and you are choosing to drive. No sympathy here.
